Duncan, Greg & Laurie Amway

 Story

Greg and Laurie Duncan were the first members of the Duncan family to work with Amway, beginning their careers in 1981. 

In their previous lives, Greg was a medical student and Laurie worked as a dental hygienist before founding their own firm. 

They qualified Direct with three legs in 1981, Emerald with four legs in 1983, Diamond with five legs in 1985, Double Diamond with six legs in 1992, and Triple Diamond with seven legs in 1998. 

IBOAI Executive Committee in 2006, and Laurie served as Chairman of the IBOAI Marketing Advisory Committee in 2006, both positions held by Greg.

The Freedom to Live Our Lives How We Want

After completing his final year of medical school, Greg and Laurie decided to establish their own business. However, they had dreams of something bigger than themselves: “The real appeal of being Independent Business Owners was the opportunity it offered for freedom—a life on our terms, rather than one dictated by unbending schedules and impersonal routines.” They were determined to make their dreams a reality. 

In Laurie's words, "people are so preoccupied with getting a living that they don't have time to make a life."

Greg considered his life objectives: "We were seeking for a means to live a really free and independent lifestyle." The time of a doctor is never his own. If I had chosen medicine, I would have envisaged myself working up to 100 hours per week only to get out of debt, only to pass away from stress and weariness at the end of it.”

There are no regrets.Despite significant peer pressure and the reservations of many close friends, the Duncans made the decision to leave the pressures of medicine for the challenges of starting their own firm. 

Greg and Laurie had achieved financial independence three years after quitting the medical profession, and after six years, they had become Double Diamonds with no regrets: 

"Today, one of the greatest thrills for us is to witness so many others achieve their goals and ambitions," Greg says. 

It has allowed us to make a greater impact on more people in more meaningful ways than we ever could have done in a fast-paced medical practise.”

Montana, where I grew up.The family of four relocated from the Seattle area to their home state of Montana several years ago. 

A isolated lake with rising fish and eagles soaring in the distance surrounds their rustic alpine house, Dayspring Lodge, which is situated on the southern shore of the lake. 

Thousands of tamarack and birch trees sway in the breeze as Greg and Laurie take in the breathtaking view from a ski slope on one of the several surrounding mountain ranges, which they have just discovered.

Taking pleasure in life and familyThe ability to spend quality time with family is the most highly cherished. 

We have a son and a daughter who have the opportunity to grow up knowing both their father and their mother, according to Laurie. In Greg's words, "our business allows us to define our lives in terms of our family rather than our money."

Routes to Higher EducationThe addition of two full-time private teachers enabled the family to pursue educational opportunities that were both thrilling and unique for them. 

It was located in one of their several lake properties and was known as "Dayspring Academy." All of the fundamental subjects were covered, however the manner through which they were taught were different from the norm.

One spring, I spent five weeks learning Spanish in a Costa Rican language immersion school. The next spring, I spent five weeks in a French language immersion course at several sites throughout France. 

In addition to clambering through an ancient Roman aqueduct, the journey included viewing a super-yacht show in Nice, ascents of the peaks surrounding Mont Blanc in the French Alps, and attendance at the opening of the World's Fair in Lisbon, Portugal.

A realistic re-enactment of Custer's Last Stand at the actual historic site on the Little Bighorn River helped them to have a better knowledge of American frontier history. 

Devin and Whitney's study of Shakespeare was enriched by their family's annual trip to a Shakespeare festival in Oregon, which they attended with their teachers.

When the classroom travelled between Boston, Virginia, Washington, D.C., London, Paris, and a slew of other exciting locations, history and geography were brought to life. 

Devin and Whitney are incorporating internships and international immersion programmes into their university experience today, demonstrating that real-world application of learning is still possible.

Having the ability to be free and fulfilledThe Duncans agree that they have a wonderful existence. “We are confident that anyone may find the same sense of freedom and pleasure that we have discovered through this business.

Two people, Duncan Amway and his family members Greg and Laurie Amway, are examples of people who have made substantial contributions to the world of business and philanthropy. Story 

When one of Bob's coworkers casually said, "Hey Bob, are you making as much money as you want?" Bob responded affirmatively. 

"Are you kidding me?" Bob exclaimed in response. The coworker said that he would be hosting a gathering at his home for all of his "success-minded" buddies. To satisfy their curiosity, the Doan's went to observe what people who were successful looked like.

The Doans, who were surrounded by nine other couples, spotted an opportunity that they found difficult to believe but impossible to pass up. 

For the first few minutes, I didn't trust anything he told me, but I was also terrified that it might actually be true and that if I missed out, I'd regret it for the rest of my life, Jody recounted. Bob saw an opportunity to realise a lifelong dream of owning his own business, and Jody saw a method to support their three children's college tuition without having to take out a second mortgage.

A dismal start was followed by family tragedy and illness, which forced them to restart their efforts and set a deadline for themselves. 

Their first milestone was platinum in seven months, then ruby in nine months, and then double diamond in five years. In the end, it was only a short distance to the Triple Diamond pin, which is where they are now.

"I believe you will be able to reach Platinum or Ruby by simply putting in the effort. However, in order to make it to Diamond, you must have a strategy in place. HINT: People who are busy have a plethora of opportunities."

Delisle, Dennis & Sharon Amway

Coming to Morgan Hill - a brief introduction In July of 1976, my wife Sharon and I relocated to Morgan Hill, California. 

We've been watching the city grow for the past 30 years. Our daughter Annette was two years old when we relocated to this area, and our son Dennis Jr. was born two weeks after we did. Annette currently resides in Tampa, Florida. 

Her academic background is in Christian Ministries, and she is currently employed as a personal trainer. Dennis Jr. and his wife Lori reside in Morgan Hill, California, with their three children. 

Dennis is the owner of "Whole People Inc.", and Lori runs an image consulting firm in addition to her full-time job as a mother of three sons under the age of five. 

We are proud of our children and grateful for the people and community activities that were available to them when they were growing up in Morgan Hill. 

My parents, Frank and Rita Delisle, also lived in Morgan Hill for a few years until a few of years ago. 

My brother Frank and his wife Barbara Delisle also lived in Morgan Hill and raised their four children there. As you can see, Morgan Hill has meant a great deal to our families and will continue to mean a great deal to our future family as it grows here.

In terms of education, Sharon and I were high school sweethearts and graduated from Cupertino High School in 1966, respectively. After that, I went on to De Anza Jr. College, where I graduated with an A.A. Degree in business administration in 1968. 

I then attended San Jose State University, where I earned a B.S. in Accounting, graduating with the class of 1971. After graduation, I feel that education doesn't come to an end. 

It is actually the beginning. You must continue to educate yourself through seminars, books, and audios, particularly in the area of financial intelligence, because it is so important in all you do in business.

We are members of Morgan Hill Bible Church, which is our religious home. It is a Christian church that is not affiliated with any particular denomination. 

We have been members of the church since its inception in the early 1980s. Believe in the existence of God, that every life is precious and unique, and that God has a specific plan for your life, and that God has a special purpose for your life. I think that the Bible is the inspired word of God, and that by following it, your life will be made more meaningful and fulfilling.

Sharon and I are celebrating our 38th wedding anniversary this year. Sharon was diagnosed with chronic kidney disease three weeks after we exchanged wedding vows. 

We didn't know how long she had left to live at the time. We have a history of many doctors, hospitals and challenges in our life. 

Because of our faith, our lives have been blessed despite these difficulties, and we look forward to 38+ more years of marriage together in the future.

Amway is a direct selling firm that was established in 1959. Belknap Amway, Keith Amway, and Jimmie Lee Amway are three persons that have contributed significantly to the company's history as well as its success.

Amway is still a dominant player in the direct selling industry despite the fact that it has been the subject of debate over the years, notably in relation to the business model that it employs (multi-level marketing). Victor, Joe & Helyne Amway

 Joe Victor collaborated directly with the other founding members of the AWA on the development of the original Sales and Marketing Strategy. He has grown his company into one of the largest and most successful independent enterprises in the world, earning the status of Crown Direct Distributor in the United Kingdom. The Association's early years were marked by his dedication to its Board of Directors, which set an example for others who followed him in setting a high bar for themselves.

When Joe and Helen were married in 1961, they were awarded the Emerald pin and the Diamond pin, respectively. The firm was united with Joe and Helyne's to form Amway Crowns in 1979, with the help of their son and Direct Distributor, Ron Victor and his wife Carol. Having worked closely together for some time, the two couples were delighted to form a new collaboration that allowed the elder Victors to spend more time at their vacation condominium in Florida.

During the time of the merger, the other son, Jody, had already achieved the status of Double Diamond. He becomes a Crown Direct Distributor two years later, in August 1981, after earning his certification.

Joe died in 1998 at the age of 79, leaving behind a wife and three children. Helyne died in 2007 at the age of 87. They had four Diamond legs, all of which were Triple Diamonds or higher. She amalgamated (integrated) her business with that of her son Jody after Joe's death, and he was in charge of both businesses until she passed away.

 Nam-Deuk Kim & Jung-Yun Lee are Triple Diamonds based in Seattle. They started Amway business in 2003 at Boston part time. They qualified Diamond in 2005, Executive Diamond in 2006, Double Diamond in 2009, and Triple Diamond in 2010. They are currently linked with WWDB in the U.S., attending incentive trips funded by WWDB as well as presenting at WWDB functions.
