Rich, Larry & Margaret Amway

Rich, Larry & Margaret Amway

Lawrence Palmer "Larry" Brown experienced a variety of ups and downs during his life. He was expelled from school, married and divorced his first wife twice, survived a gas attack during World War I, worked in the film industry, and married a Hollywood celebrity.

Larry was successful in striking his own winding course through the world, despite the fact that he was trying to escape the shadows cast by his famous parents.

Larry was born on August 30, 1887, in Margaret's hometown of Hannibal, Missouri, to a mother named Margaret.

When the family relocated from Leadville to Denver in 1894, Larry and his sister Helen enrolled in Sacred Heart College, a prestigious Catholic institution. Larry and Helen graduated in 1902. His parents then sent him to a boarding school.

Photograph of the FamilyThe Brown Family's Last International Trip as a Family took place in 1906. Traveled on the Lusitania during its first year of service across the Atlantic.

Phillips Exeter Academy, a prep school in Pennsylvania, is a good example. J.J. and Margaret hoped he would attend Yale, while Larry hoped he would go the Colorado School of Mines, which was regarded as one of the nation's best mining colleges at the time.

Both sets of plans were thrown off course when several of Larry's travelling companions "went on a spree" on the way back to school after the holiday season ended. Eventually, the entire group was ejected from the school.

When Larry returned to Denver and informed his father, the two were embroiled in an argument that resulted in Larry being arrested and spending the night in jail.

When asked about his feelings, Larry responded by telling a reporter "My, but I regret this affair." I can't bear the thought of having to face my mum.

I have a special affection for her and her sister, and I believe they will bear the brunt of the consequences of what has happened” (Iversen, 157).

The fact that Larry married Eileen Horton, a Kansas City socialite, rather than returning to school, only added to his father's dissatisfaction with his decision.

While Margaret had a soft spot for Eileen, she and J.J. felt that Larry should wait until he had established himself before starting a family with her.

The ceremony for the marriage of Larry and Eileen took place in Kansas City on January 11, 1911, and neither J.J. nor Margaret were in attendance.

Larry was disinherited from the family fortune by J.J., who was enraged by his son's disobedience.

Following a honeymoon in Leadville, Larry and Eileen relocated to Victor, Colorado, where he took a job as a day miner, and they have been there ever since.

In November 1911, their son Lawrence Palmer, Jr., affectionately known as "Pat," was born. When it comes to creating a sensational story, the Denver press did not disappoint.

The situation of the family was described with the headline "Rich Man's Son Toils in Mine to Feed Wife and Baby."

Eileen hoped that Larry would give up mining for the sake of his health and safety, and with her encouragement, he began taking correspondence courses in business administration and management.

Meanwhile, J.J., inspired by Larry's determination to forge his own path in life, began sending small monthly instalments from his trust fund to Larry.

Larry was still struggling to find a stable job, and the family was constantly on the move. In 1913, the couple moved to California, where they had their second child, Eileen Elizabeth "Betty" Brown.

By 1915, however, the stress of frequent relocations and uncertain employment had caused Eileen and Larry to separate and divorce.

Larry made his way back to Colorado and eventually enrolled at the School of Mines there.

Larry decided to enlist when the United States entered World War I in 1917, and he did so very quickly.

Larry in uniformLarry Brown served during World War I.

He was discovered to be a good fit for military life. While training at Fort Sheridan, he "attracted notice for his skill in military manners and zeal," according to the report (Iversen, 213).

He rose through the ranks to become a captain in the 117th Infantry and was assigned to the American Expeditionary Force in France. He and Eileen remarried just a few days before he set sail for Europe.

While serving in France, Larry maintained his excitement for the service, but he also had to deal with the hardships of wartime living. From the battlefields of Ypres, he wrote his mother, saying, "I am working harder than I have ever worked in my life, yet at the same time I am enjoying it all more than I have ever enjoyed anything.

" Despite this, he acknowledged that he "becomes very lonely at times" (Iversen, 214). Larry was exposed to mustard gas a month later, when fighting near the German fortifications of the Hindenburg line.

After two months in the hospital, he was able to make a full recovery, but his active duty career was done.

He received a decoration for his contribution to the breaking of the Hindenburg line, and he was honourably dismissed from the army in January 1919.

When J.J. died in 1922, a lengthy and violent legal battle erupted between Margaret and her two children over how the estate should be divided. Margaret eventually won the case.

In 1926, a settlement was reached that put $100,000 in trust for Margaret and another $100,000 in trust for the children. Larry and Eileen were divorced for the second time not long after that.

Larry eventually made his way back to California, where he worked as a general manager for the John Gorman Pictures studio during the golden period of silent filmmaking.

He met and fell in love with Hollywood actress Mildred Gregory, and the two were married on November 17, 1926, in Beverly Hills, California.

Despite the fact that his relationship with his mother had soured as a result of the inheritance dispute, when Margaret passed away in 1932, Larry requested that the funeral be postponed so that he could be present.

After relocating to Leadville in 1935, he became a member of the Leadville Historical Association's board of directors, and later rose to the position of Director of the Colorado Mining Association.

Over the course of his later years, he attempted to prevent the distortions of his mother's image that were being generated by Hollywood and the media, but he was generally unsuccessful.

Larry died of pneumonia in 1949, at the age of 61, and was survived by his wife and two children. A collection of family materials was bequeathed to the Colorado Historical Society, with the stipulation that they not be opened for at least 25 years after he had passed away.

It wasn't until 1978 that the Brown family's collection was eventually opened and sorted, and it was this that Larry was able to realise his goal of mending the family's legacy, decades after his death.

Jacob Wipf, a student intern in the field of education, wrote this piece.

Hays, Brian & Marg Amway

Hays, Brian & Marg Amway

Those who were not familiar with Brian Hays's decision to leave a high-ranking executive position with a large electronics manufacturer in order to devote his whole time to this iCommerce business may have wondered if he was on the right path to financial independence and personal freedom.

However, for Brian and Marg, this was the beginning of their relationship.

"We now have the kind of fantastic lifestyle we've always desired," they claim. Our lives are full of excitement and adventure since we have many wonderful friends and opportunities to travel.

In the words of Brian, "a truck driver acquaintance demonstrated to us that this business provided a great degree of independence." "We would have the ability to make our own decisions, which was really important to me."

"I've subsequently found that there are no boundaries to this business." You have the ability to employ all of your creative abilities and energies to achieve your own objectives.

We have the ability to provide a small part-time income as well as a big income, which is something that we appreciate," Brian adds with enthusiasm.

"This business has something for everyone," Brian says. "Anyone can get into this line of work. Members of our organisation come from all walks of life and have a diverse range of backgrounds."

According to Marg, "one of the things I've appreciated about this experience is that we've been able to grow our business by working together."

It's a family business, and all three of our children have had the opportunity to get involved. When Brian worked for a firm, it was hard for him to participate in such wholesome family activities."

"Most people who want to live a better-than-average lifestyle are willing to put in the extra effort," Brian continues.

'This business represents the greatest potential available anywhere in the world today,' I tell them.

On September 21, 2007, Brian and Marg Hays officially merged their International Connection (IC) organisation with Network TwentyOne (n21), bringing their combined organisation to a close.

Hays, Brian Amway, and Marg Amway are three people who have had a big impact on the direct selling sector, particularly within the Amway Corporation. Hays was a co-founder of the company, and Marg Amway is Brian's wife. Let's take a more in-depth look at their histories and the things they've accomplished.

Brian Hays was born in the United States in 1951 in the state of California. He received his degree in business administration from the University of California, Berkeley, where he also received his education. Following graduating, he gained experience in the direct selling industry by working for a few different organizations until joining Amway in 1980.

Hays quickly climbed the corporate ladder at Amway and held a variety of key positions in the company's sales and marketing departments.

After some time, he was given the opportunity to advance his career and was given the position of Executive Vice President. In this role, he was accountable for managing the business's operations in North America.

During the time that Hays worked for Amway, he was an integral part of the creation and execution of a number of forward-thinking sales and marketing tactics.

In addition to this, he was instrumental in the expansion of the company's product line and geographic reach, both of which contributed to the establishment of Amway as one of the greatest direct selling companies in the world.

On the other hand, Marg Amway is one of the co-founders of Amway Corporation as well as the wife of Amway Corporation co-founder Rich DeVos. In the United States of America in the year 1936, Marg was born. She received her degree in education from Calvin College in Grand Rapids, Michigan, which is located in the United States.

In 1953, Marg tied the knot with Rich DeVos, and the couple went on to have a total of four children together. During the entirety of her husband's tenure at Amway, Marg played the role of a supportive spouse, assisting in the upbringing of their children while also making contributions to the charitable activities of the company.

In addition to her work for Amway, Marg has been quite engaged in a variety of charity organizations over the years. She had previously held a position on the board of directors for the Helen DeVos Children's Hospital in addition to being a founding member of the Grand Rapids Christian School Association.

Brian Hays and Marg Amway have been instrumental in the development of Amway Corporation's culture as well as the company's success. Their legacies continue to serve as sources of motivation and direction for the business even in the modern day, as their contributions to the direct selling sector have been considerable.

The transformation of Amway's sales and marketing methods was significantly aided by Brian Hays, who played a pivotal part in the process. He implemented a whole new sales and marketing system that was given the name "Business Process Re-engineering." This system's primary goals were to boost productivity and make the company's operations more streamlined. Additionally, he was the driving force behind the creation of Amway's customer relationship management (CRM) system, which improved the company's ability to comprehend and attend to the needs of its clientele.

Amway went beyond its initial focus on health and wellness while it was led by Hays, who was responsible for expanding the company's product line.

The company started selling a broader variety of products, such as those for cleaning and maintaining the home, beauty and personal care items, and nutritional supplements. This contributed to the company's ability to diversify its revenue streams and attract a wider variety of customers.

Amway's attempts to give back to the communities in which it works were led by Hays, who was also a leader in the field of corporate social responsibility and a champion of the cause. Over the course of its history, the company has provided financial assistance to a wide range of charitable causes, including relief efforts following natural disasters, educational endeavors, and health-related programs.

Although they have been made in a different manner, Marg Amway's contributions to the company have been just as substantial. Marg, the wife of one of Amway's co-founders, was instrumental in the development of the company's charitable work during her time with the company.

She was instrumental in the formation of the Amway Foundation, which has contributed millions of dollars to philanthropic causes all around the world since its inception.

Marg has also been an advocate for the health of children and the education of children. She has served on the boards of directors for a number of organizations that are dedicated to similar causes, including the Children's Hospital of Michigan Foundation and the Michigan Council for Arts and Cultural Affairs.

Both the direct selling business and the Amway Corporation have been profoundly influenced by the contributions that Brian Hays and Marg Amway have made jointly.

Their commitment to new ideas, responsible business practices, and charitable giving has been instrumental in the development of the company's culture and success.

Today, Amway is the most successful direct selling firm in the world. The company is present in more than one hundred countries and caters to millions of clients all over the globe.

Gunnett, Clare & Shirley Amway

Gunnett, Clare & Shirley Amway

 Shirley

On January 27, 1976, ABC broadcast the first episode of Shirley, which featured Laverne DeFazio and Shirley Feeney as the main characters.

The show ran for eight seasons until it was cancelled on May 10, 1983. The lives of Laverne DeFazio (Penny Marshall) and Shirley Feeney (Cindy Williams), two friends and roommates who work as bottle-cappers in the fictitious Shotz Brewery in late 1950s Milwaukee, Wisconsin, were followed in Laverne & Shirley, a spin-off of Happy Days.

The series' setting was shifted to Burbank, California, in the middle of the 1960s beginning with the sixth season. Lenny Kosnowski and Andrew "Squiggy" Squiggman, respectively, were played by Michael McKean and David Lander, who also appeared as the girls' friends and neighbours.

Other cast members included Eddie Mekka as Carmine Ragusa, Phil Foster as Laverne's father, Frank DeFazio, and Betty Garrett as the girls' landlord, Edna Babish.

Laverne & Shirley, which featured regular physical humour, quickly rose to become the most-watched American television show by its third season; the show won a total of six Golden Globe nominations and one Emmy nomination during its run.

History

Insofar as the two main characters were introduced on Happy Days as Fonzie's acquaintances, the sitcom is a spin-off of the popular television series Happy Days (Henry Winkler).

According to Cindy Williams, the characters were originally "two girls who date the fleet," but for family hour, they had to be adjusted and mellowed down, which, in her opinion, added dimension to the play.

The timeline, which spans nearly the same time period as the series, begins in approximately 1958, when the series premiered, and ends in 1967, when the series came to an end.

Like Happy Days, it was produced by Paramount Television and conceived by Garry Marshall (together with Lowell Ganz and Mark Rothman).

Garry Marshall and Edward K. Milkis from Miller-Boyett Productions served as executive producers, as did Thomas L. Miller from Miller-Boyett Productions.

Michael Eisner claims that Cindy Williams refused to participate in the Laverne & Shirley spin-off, so her role was recast with Liberty Williams (who is not related to Cindy Williams), and a seven-minute screen test was filmed.

Cindy Williams was eventually persuaded to take on the part between the afternoon shoot and the evening shoot, and she re-shot the sequence with Penny Marshall, who would go on to act alongside her in the series, that night after being persuaded.

Management wanted to view both versions, but Eisner kept the first reel of tape hidden in a closet of the building and claimed at the screening that footage from the first shoot had gone missing, so they only got to see Cindy Williams and Penny Marshall's performance in the second version.
