He was the starting left tackle for the Baltimore Colts of the National Football League. On the surface, everything appeared to be in order.

 Toshi and Bea Taba are Executive Diamonds with their headquarters in Hawaii. Prior to starting the company, they owned and operated a carpet and upholstery business. 

Amway began in 1981, with the qualification of Emerald in 1986, Diamond in 1987, and Executive Diamond in 1995, and the company continues today. 

They are linked with WWDB, however they are not currently engaged in the company's operations.

They have one frontline Diamond, 1999 Executive Diamond Mike & Michi Woods, who was born in the year 1999.

 Strong are Gator and Connie Strong, who were once Executive Diamonds and are now qualified at Emerald. 

They received their Emerald qualification in 1984, Diamond qualification in 1987, and Executive Diamond qualification in 1994. 

They are the first line of defence for Double Diamond Jack Daughery, however they are not affiliated with Daughery's ILD system, but with the WWDB.

 A Case Study in Success

The fact that Danny and Renate are so upbeat when they talk about the changes their business has brought into their life is easy to comprehend. 

It is the fact that they now have more time to spend with each other and their three girls that has been the most significant adjustment for these former high school sweethearts.

Danny had spent very little time with his wife and children before to establishing their business with his wife.

 He was working 70 to 80 hours a week as an automobile salesman, and he aspired to become a sales manager in the future.

 Renate, who worked as a supervisor for a global hotel reservation centre, had a lot on her plate as well.

During this time period, Danny got over 700 cards and letters of support from friends and family. In fact, their business flourished even more the next year while Danny was recovering from his injuries.

 Joe and Doris Shaw are accused of raising funds through a fraudulent real estate scheme and then using the funds to purchase Amway products, which were then kept in a warehouse rather than being sold in accordance with Amway standards. 

They were acknowledged as Diamonds and Executive Diamonds, however their positions were terminated after fraud was found.

 Dave and Jan Severn are Executive Diamonds from Idaho, and were the first to qualify as Diamonds in the state in 1981.

 Dave reports that he has reached a plateau at 52,000 PV. Ruby then broke five Platinum legs in order to progress from Ruby to Diamond in under 12 months' time. 

Prior to joining Amway, he worked as a certified public accountant.

When people claim that it is tough to go diamond while living in a rural region, Severn frequently says that he has broken more than 10 Platinums while living in tiny communities. 

He is quite well-liked among the WWDB and BWW communities, and he is frequently quoted by numerous IBOs.

A Case Study in Success

There appeared the teacher.

“When the student is ready, the teacher will appear,” says the instructor. 

That quote accurately illustrates how Dave and Jan Severn came to be involved with the Indpendent Business Plan (IBP).

After serving in the army, Dave went on to work for an international accounting firm as a certified public accountant.

 However, by the age of thirty-two, he had reached the pinnacle of his professional success and was forced to settle for annual cost-of-living wage increases while he awaited a promotion opportunity.

“I was weary of working 100+ hours per week and being paid for just forty,” Dave explains. “I was also annoyed by the fact that I was performing at a higher level while being paid at my current level, and by the fact that taxes and inflation were eating away the majority of my earnings.”

The Severns were riding in a rusted 1967 Chevrolet pickup. Jan had returned to work as a result of their inability to fulfil their living expenditures. As Dave explains, "I had followed every piece of advice I had received." 

“A bachelor's degree, a professional licence, and a lot of effort. We couldn't just sit around and hope that things would improve; we had to do something.” This is where you come in. As if by magic, the teacher (Ron Puryear) materialised in front of the student (Dave) who was ready.

Attempting to Break into the Big Business

“We were a very active group of people,” Dave explains. “I am actively interested in both business and community activities.” There is no additional time. However, the business appeared to be too wonderful to pass up. 

We didn't know much about it, but we were optimistic about its potential and confident in our ability to put out the necessary work. So, we decided to start a major business since we believed the Independent Business Pan would answer our financial difficulties!

Struggles

The Severns took the plunge into the future and landed on their collective asses. The majority of their friends and family either laughed or told them they were insane. 

One of Dave's professional accounting colleagues expressed concern about the fact that he was jeopardising the future of his profession by continuing with his side business. 

However, Dave and Jan maintained that their aspirations were greater than their difficulties, and, most crucially, they only listened to business advice from their upline and refused to listen to criticism.

The Seeds of Our Commitment Were Sewn

Although the Severns had little business volume and no profits six months after launching their company, they were still in the red. They were finally able to connect with others and attend a Family Reunion as a result. 

“We got a good look at what it was all about,” Dave says. “There is a lot of love, caring, and sharing among people from different backgrounds. 

We got a glimpse of what lay underneath the items. At that occasion, we were inspired by the lifestyle that was conceivable, as well as the calibre of individuals with whom we would be able to construct our future. Everything became a matter of when from that point onward.”

Living a Life of Your Own Design

After six more months, when her earnings had more than doubled, Jan decided to leave her work and stay at home with her children. 

The Severns were able to grow their business quickly by understanding how to set goals, regularly working the business with the same seriousness that they applied to their employment, and listening to and following upline advice. 

Dave chose to leave his profession 11 months after Jan's Independence Day, despite earning an annual income that was four times his CPA pay. He did so voluntarily.

Taking Charge of Our Decisions

Since Dave's declaration of independence, the Severns' income has increased gradually. Due to the fact that they are full-time independent business owners, Dave and Jan may pick exactly what they want to do each day, as well as with whom and where they want to do it, and how long they want to remain.

 The family enjoys travelling the world, taking vacations, and dressing and staying in first-class hotels.

 Their decisions are no longer influenced by the passage of time or the availability of funds. The Severns have a 138-acre estate with a river, ponds, and a lake on which to raise their family. 

In their utopia, there is an abundance of fish and fauna. Their ranch in Idaho, which they use for both commercial purposes and as a family pleasure location, is 160 acres, and they enjoy it much. Caretakers and a housekeeper split the effort in order to give the Severns more time to play with their friends.

Great Dreams are a must-have.

“The rewards of Diamond are worth many times the amount of labour it required to construct it,” Dave says of the investment. 

“We are able to live the number-one lifestyle in America today because we have achieved financial independence.” 

The only thing we did was imagine big ideas, say "yes" to those dreams, and then get to work on our business.

For many years, it has been a labour of passion that never feels like work—and it has allowed me to be financially independent. 

Most notable among these have been the capacity to provide our son with expensive, specialised schooling, care for our parents, real estate investments, and the opportunity to travel to far-flung locations with our entire family.”

Providing Service to Others

“We can't fathom doing anything greater to benefit people than what we're doing with this wonderful company! Our Christian values apply to every aspect, and we give all the glory for our success to our God. But the best part is that you will continue to have access to the same business and benefits,” Dave explains.

 Through the growing city of Columbus, Ohio, travel two shiny Mercedes Benz vehicles.

 Their drivers are the progeny of a Czech who just fled the carnage of World War I, and a Slovak who became a coal miner in West Virginia. 

Their past is typically American, as is their attitude and energy regarding enterprise.

John Sestina, in the convertible, heads to his office. 

Named the first Financial Planner of the Year, John is widely renowned in his area. 

National media reference him frequently, and it wouldn't be odd to turn on a TV news programme and see him as a guest. 

Bobbi Sestina drives the sedan, headed for the Childhood League School, a centre for children with developmental difficulties, as a volunteer teacher and paediatric nurse.

After working a brief time in a financial planning business for someone else, John decided to go out on his own.

 "In a very short time, I had the largest financial planning firm in the entire country. "My only mistake was in my choice of partners," John continues.

 "When I discovered out he was less than honest, I spent a year, attempting to disentangle the situation.

 To separate myself from my partner, I handed away my portion of the business, losing everything. 

I physically collapsed because of the stress, and with my body so weak, I acquired a type of pneumonia that is sometimes fatal.

 I slipped into a coma and almost died.

"Every night, a physician, who happened to be my best friend, went over from Springfield to care for me." 

This turned out to be the physician who had originally brought in the Sestinas to the family's business. 

When word got out that John was back on his feet, people began contacting him to assist them with their financial planning. 

He has once again established himself as the owner of one of the most successful financial planning offices in the country.

The Sestinas may travel in separate directions to achieve their respective professional goals, but their paths most frequently cross at their house, Christmas Tree Hill, where they enjoy spending time with their daughter, Alison and their friends.

 It is in this location that they all gather to enjoy music and other activities. Bobbi is a fantastic cook, and John is a Burmese Bando Boxing practitioner who is one of just 100 Bando black belts in the United States of America.

"Most businesses or professions are known for separating husbands and wives," explains John. "This is one of the few firms where you may collaborate with your colleagues." 

'I didn't marry Bobbi so that she could wash my clothes and prepare my meals; I married her because I wanted to spend more time with her.'

"In financial planning, you can't put your faith in anyone," John continues. In this profession, you have to put your trust in everyone.

Both in the Amway industry and in the field of financial planning, John and Bobbi Sestina are known as two of the most influential figures. It has been gratifying, at long last, to be able to work on something that actually worked.

 It's been a wonderful journey, and we're continuing on the road looking for the next group of people we can assist.

Angelo and Claudia are progressive parents who create their home in a suburb of Washington, DC, a lovely refuge for themselves and their three children, Sonny, Natalie, and Nick, as well as for their extended family.

Angelo is a carousel animal collector who owns a camel that weighs 500 pounds! Working out on his gym equipment helped him obtain his Black Belt in Tae Kwon Do. He credits his gym equipment for his success. 

It has been nearly 25 years since the Nardones have been in this line of work. 

Angelo expresses himself like follows: "While pursuing my master's degree in special education at American University, I began working as a substitute teacher. 

I looked over the company plan and attended a seminar. I didn't have the time, but I knew I could do it on a part-time basis if necessary." 

Angelo spent seven years working as a therapist for emotionally troubled children before deciding to pursue his dream of being an IBO full-time "When we first began out, we focused on serving customers in the local Virginia, Washington, and Maryland areas.

 This achievement was a significant milestone for the Merrises, as it was their reward for years of painstaking work by John and Cathy and a sign of hope for their children, Julie, Natalie, Jessica, John and Nicole as well as Joseph and Joseph's brother, Joseph.

Cathy, on the other hand, had faced such dire financial straits that she was convinced there would be no way out.

 "I used to get out of bed at two o'clock in the morning to deliver newspapers to make additional money," she says of her previous job.

 "When my car was repossessed, the gravity of our predicament became clear to me."

While attending college, John worked as a sales representative for vacuum cleaners. 

His career as an independent distributor for the company lasted after college, until he became disillusioned by the high turnover and chose to try his hand at corporate life in New York City. 

Upon relocating to North Carolina, he took up the role of branch manager for a multinational computer corporation.

""I made a good living there," he adds, "but I didn't feel fulfilled in my work." 'Go to work, come home, go to work, come home... is this all there is to life?' I thought to myself.

 'Is this all there is to life?'" A small computer business offered John a position as regional manager in 1983. 

He brought his growing family back to Texas and began working for them the next year. 

The company went out of business a few months later.

While living in North Carolina, John and Cathy had launched their own business, but they hadn't given it much thought until they returned home. 

Now that John is out of work, they have made a complete commitment to one other. 

Thanks to the guidance of his upline, John learned how to teach and care for the people he enrolled - planting the seeds of opportunity in their hearts and watering, fertilising, and growing them over the course of a lengthy incubation period. 

Five years later, the Merrises were able to reap the benefits of their labour. In just one year, they were able to achieve both Emerald and Diamond status!

Now, John and Cathy are living the life they've always dreamed of having. "Being a decent wife and mother is the number one priority for me," Cathy adds. 

"I enjoy travelling with John, and I enjoy attending my children's dancing performances, piano recitals, soccer games, swim meets, and other activities," says the mother of three. 

Cathy has served as the president of her PTA and is an enthusiastic supporter of local candidates and political concerns.

When John thinks back on their accomplishments, he believes that they owe a great deal to their willingness to defer gratification.

 "We put our attention on our dream and put off some of the activities we enjoyed doing," he explains. 

"For example, I enjoy golfing but have put it on hold while growing the firm. 

Now that I have more money and leisure than I ever had before, I play on courses all over the world, which is a dream come true."

The Hawaiian Islands, where he hopes to build a house, are among his interests, along with Nordic skiing, American history, theatre, and even the geography of the islands. 

And, of course, there's travel involved. 

Europe and South America are on his travel itinerary many times a year, and he has made more than 20 trips to Spain to assist in the expansion of his company's operations there."

"I was single, 21 years old, in debt, and $200 away from law school," Ray Melillo says, "when my sponsor, Ed Maffia, presented me the business plan."

 Ed and Joe Petrillo ' both now Emerald IBOs ' were college mates of Ray's who had gone off to law school.

"Ed came home one weekend, and presented me the plan on the back of an envelope in my car at 1:00 a.m. I figured, if it was good for those guys, it was good for me. 

You see, I trusted them and trust is extremely crucial to your success in this profession. The rest is history!

"Living at home and renting a bed didn't offer me an edge by any means.

 I recall Mom being so negative, that she'd interrupt my meetings in my room with washing, and later we would dispute about how stupid I was to believe 'those people.' Dad was even worse. 

He pushed me to work in his industry of construction and see if I could continue to expand my business. 

So I accepted a position at a job where he was foreman, lugging cement all day, and coming home ready to drop. 

But I was out practically every night, showing the plan.

"The next thing I know, I was a new Platinum, making more money than I ever made working full time. So, I bought my first Cadillac and was able to resign from my work at the ripe old age of 23. 

Since then, I haven't worked for another man.

In case you're wondering, my mother and father are Jean and Runzie Valerio, who are both Diamond IBOs and have been out of work for more than two decades.

Today, Ray and his wife, Joanne, as well as their three boys, Joey, Nicky, and Anthony, are able to enjoy the benefits of their hard work.
