Stokes, Ron & Dinah
"It's not simply about being monetarily successful; it's being open to adventure, romance and serendipity."
Hollywood's glitter is often veiled with uncertainty.
Three years after Ron and Dinah Stokes launched their business, their accountant remarked, "Do you know what you have here?"
Their income from acting had fallen, but their lifestyle was untouched, thanks to the money from their business.
Ron had 30 movies, 80 TV episodes and hundreds of commercials and industrial films to his credit.
Dinah, a busy actress in the Southern California legitimate theatre, was a secretary in a film production firm when she met Ron. They had one solid, little income (Dinah's) and one larger undependable one(Ron's).
When casual acquaintances presented them the business in a living room meeting they answered "yes" because "we couldn't think of a decent reason to say 'no'.
Their business developed and Ron and Dinah grew.
"Our ideals have been moulded and shaped from the leadership models of our business friends," explains Dinah.
Ron suffered a stroke in 1984, their business not only persisted, but flourished.
"It's not simply about being financially successful," says Dinah, "its the delightful reward of being open to adventure, romance and spontaneity that comes with building it."
