Renfrow, Rex & Betty Jo
When the Renfrows started their firm in 1972, they were ecstatic because they saw an opportunity to be able to enjoy some of the nicer amenities of life rather than simply barely scraping by.
"We simply wanted to make enough additional dollars each month to be able to afford to eat out once in a while, even if it was just at a hamburger stand," Betty Jo says of Rex's job with the United States Department of Agriculture.
Renfrows' "hamburger out" has long since been replaced by gourmet meals in the greatest restaurants, as well as virtually anything else their hearts want.
Another one of their favourite things to do is to travel. Rex and Betty Jo are frequent visitors to several of the world's most beautiful resorts and tourist destinations.
This includes their magnificent waterfront property on four acres on the Chesapeake Bay, where they enjoy spending time with family and friends on their three wave runners, ski boat, and houseboat, among other things.
One of the most significant benefits of growing their business is the sense of personal freedom and the opportunity to spend more time with their family.
They freely confess that they were initially driven to the business by the prospect of improving their financial circumstances, but they have discovered that the positive atmosphere and friendship of the individuals have greatly enhanced their lives.
Despite the fact that they came in for the money, the Renfrows claim they stayed for the people.
