Pui-kuong has lived in Macau his entire life and has tried a variety of careers after graduating from high school before settling on being a firefighter. Pui-kuong had made an investment in stocks, and he did gain some money – at least until the stock market crashed in 1987, when he suffered massive losses. His confidence began to erode as a result of his recurrent failures.
