Maria Hung & Kevin Chang Amway

 Kevin Cheng

Early life

Born in San Francisco, Heng moved to Hong Kong at an early age and spent most of his life there. He attended Pun U Association Wah Yah Primary School, Wah Yan College, Hong Kong International School, and Alhambra High School in the United States. His mother moved him back to China during his school days, where he stayed with his uncle two years before returning to Hong Kong after his mother changed her mind about going to the U.S. He completed Canada's high school education. He sought a civil engineering degree at Los Angeles California State University,[3] but did not finish his studies since his father died and he wanted to come back to Hong Kong to be with his mother.

Career

When Cheng was 16, he entered in a singing contest organised by Hong Kong TV network TVB but left out midway because he believed he wasn't ready to be a singer at the time. Later, after moving back to Hong Kong in his early 20s, he chose to pursue a singing career. He obtained a contract with PolyGram record company in 1993, releasing his first album to mixed reviews in the same year.

He was seen as a rookie with good promise, winning numerous Best New Artist awards in 1994. Cheng's manager later helped him establish his Taiwanese entertainment career. In Taiwan, Cheng published numerous Mandarin albums and performed in some television shows, although only somewhat successful.

Mediacorp recognised Cheng after portraying the villain "Jiang Yulang" in the 1999 Taiwanese TV series The Legendary Siblings. He returned to Hong Kong, signed a management deal with TVB the next year, and started playing minor roles in certain network-produced TV programmes. He first had a leading part in TVB drama Hard Fate in 2004.

After portraying "Alan Shum" in the 2006 romance drama Under the Canopy of Love, Cheng also won that year's TVB Anniversary Award for Best Actor. His singing career has rapidly improved after Liu Chia-chang composed for him a hit, "Helpless" (Helpless).

He also released a Cantonese anthologies album the same year, holding his very first mini-concert. Niki Chow, Raymond Lam and Miriam Yeung were among his concert guest singers.

Cheng had another critical breakthrough role in the 2007 crime drama The Ultimate Crime Fighter, playing the villain "Aaren Chong" and earning excellent reviews for his portrayal. His role of the ex-convict "Sing Hei" in the 2008 thriller-suspense drama Last One Standing gained more critical acclaim and huge viewership.

He was one of the top five nominees for the 2008 TVB Anniversary Honor for Best Actor, but the award went to veteran TVB actor Ha Yu.

In 2010 Cheng took on the role of 8th Prince in Startling by Each Step (Bu Bu Jing Xin), which later heightened his career and has since gained notoriety in China.
