Plot

See: Diriliş: Ertuğrul (season 1)
Süleyman Sah, Bey of the Kayi sends his son, Ertuğrul, to ask Aleppo's Emir for land. This is made practically difficult by putting the Kayi in a series of conflicts with the Templars after saving Šehzade Numan, Halime Sultan, and Šehzade Yiğit because of the Emir's palace traitor, Nasir, who works for the Templars but is later slain by Ertuğrul and the Emir shows the truth. There is also an issue with Kurdoğlu Bey, Süleyman Sah's adoptive brother, who seeks Beylik with the help of Selcan Hatun, Ertuğrul's adopted sister and sister-in-law, who wants retribution from Süleyman Sah after he killed her deceitful father, Alptekin Bey. Ertuğrul, who loves Halime, marries after hardship. Selcan's spouse, Gündoğdu, is outraged with Ertuğrul's behaviour but later calms down, supporting his brother. Kurdoğlu is beheaded by the season's finale, Ertuğrul successfully fights the Templars and captures their citadel, and Selcan repents. This follows Süleyman Sah's death and the tribe's migration to Erzurum as part of the will of Süleyman Sah before he died.

Main: Diriliş: Ertuğrul (season 2)
After the Mongols, led by Baycu Noyan, the Kayı, settled in Erzurum, are seeking safety with the Dodurga. This leads to Ertuğrul facing Tuğtekin, his cousin, who is jealous of him and Gündoğdu again, who is mislead by the great Dodurga menace; Aytolun and her brother Gümüştekin. Aytolun married Tuğtekin's father, Korkut Bey, to enable Gümüştekin become the margrave of all Turkmen tribes with Emir Sadettin's support after killing Korkut. Only Selcan is aware of this menace and is continually trying to warn Gündoğdu, who ignores her past sins. Along with these plots, Kocabaş, Tuğtekin's alp working for Baycu Noyan, turns Tuğtekin against Ertuğrul, making their relationship worse but subsequently slain by Ertuğrul, and gradually improves his connection with Tuğtekin. Aytolun and Gümüştekin are killed after being caught after Selcan's statements are heard and Korkut is killed. Noyan is purportedly killed by Ertuğrul after Tuğtekin's death, and the tribe is split between 1000 migrating to Ahlat with Gündoğdu and 400 migrating to West Anatolia with Ertuğrul.

Poor Kayı newcomers encounter the affluent Çavdar trading veterans Ural. Although Ural is not his tribe's Bey, he desires more and more authority, growing Kayı envious anytime something good happens to the small group. Meanwhile, the Templars who entered Hanlı Pazar, led by Hancı Simon, want to assassinate Ertuğrul like he did to the Templars years before. Ertuğrul overcomes Hancı Simon and conquers Hanlı Pazar, leaving Ural jealous. When Ural is accused of killing Karacahisar's Tekfur, Andros, and giving Kayı troubles, Ural is sentenced to death, but the crafty Emir Sadettin saves him. After the death of Candar, Çavdar Bey, and Ural's father, Ural seeks help from Karacahisar's new Tekfur, Vasilius, who wishes to clear the Turks of the area but is slain by Ertuğrul in an attempt to become Çavdar's Bey. When Vasilius tries to ambush the Selçuk Sultan, Ertuğrul fails and dies. The Sultan makes Ertuğrul the Uç Bey angering Emir Sadettin, who promises to eliminate Ertuğrul. At season's end, Ertuğrul falls into an ambush arranged by Karacahisar's new Tekfur, Ares.

See: Diriliş: Ertuğrul (season 4)
Ertuğrul is assumed to be dead despite being genuinely taken by several slave dealers. Meanwhile, Emir Sadettin persuades Dündar, Ertuğrul's brother and the new Kayı Bey, to sell Hanlı Pazar and move back to Gündoğdu's tribe but is prevented after Ertuğrul's homecoming and immediately banished. After kidnapping Ertuğrul's son, Gündüz, Ertuğrul launches war on Karacahisar and succeeds in conquering it. After Ares' capture, Ertuğrul takes him before the Sultan, telling him to confess the actions of Sadettin Köpek to the Sultan. The plan works almost, but the Sultan's wife, Mahperi, saves Köpek and leads to an incident changing Ares into a Muslim, later killed by Noyan. Soon after that, the Sultan is poisoned to death, and Köpek's rise in palace power poses problems for the new Sultan, Gıyaseddin. Gıyaseddin allies with Ertuğrul and Hüsamettin Karaca are beheaded. Halime dies in childbirth, giving birth to Ertuğrul's third and youngest son, Osman's predicted. After that, Ertuğrul encounters Noyan's reappearance but succeeds in overcoming him and his deceitful sister, Alangoya, who tried Osman. Noyan prepares for a war, historically known as Köse Dağ's Battle, and Kayı moves to Söğüt.

See: Diriliş: Ertuğrul (season 5)
After 10 years in Söğüt, Ertuğrul faces various Mongolian commanders, notably Alıncak and Subutai, along with the Selçuk assassin working for the Mongols, Beybolat. Beybolat is disguised as the name, Albastı, and he arrives after his father, Umur Bey, Bey of the Umuroğlu tribe, who was ordered to become Söğüt's new tax collector. The disgraced Byzantine commander, Dragos, dressed as Söğüt Zangoç (transl. bellringer), who aims to take over the town, executed Umur Bey. Beybolat, who becomes his father's heir, and Dragos, who takes control of Lefke Castle after killing innocent Tekfur Yannis, cause Ertuğrul numerous issues, including for a short Beybolat's control over Söğüt. Beybolat's sister is the only person in her family who, with her help, Ertuğrul, defeats and kills Beybolat and Dragos. After Beybolat's death, Ertuğrul fights Arikbuka, a feared Mongol spy and Alıncak's biological brother, along with the spy, Qiyat, who works against Berke for Hulagu, Ertuğrul's ally and the Golden Horde Han. The season closes with Arikbuka and Qiyat's death along with Ertuğrul's marriage to Hatun.
