Services will be conducted at St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church, Whittier, Friday, July 20, 2018 from 5:00 to 8:30 p.m.
Born on February 9, 1927 to Venceslado Montes and Soltera Luna Vd. De Lara in El Paso Texas, she spent her early years in Ed.
Juarez Chihuahua, Mexico, where she graduated middle school. She worked in El Paso, where she met her husband, Juan G. Hernandez. They relocated from El Paso to East Los Angeles, CA, where she worked as a noonaid at Brooklyn Avenue School, moving from East Los Angeles to Whittier, where she spent almost 40 years before moving to Norwalk, CA.
While residing in Whittier, she was a member of the parish of Saint Gregory the Great Church and of the Guadalupe Society. She adored singing, music, kids jumping rope, cooking, baking, and crafts.
Nine children survive: Margarita Ortiz (AZ), Maria Evangelina Garcia (Francisco), Guadalupe Caro (Lazaro), Johnny Hernandez, Jr., Richard Hernandez, Mary Hernandez, Robert Hernandez (Martha) and Irene Sanchez (Richard).
Twenty grandchildren: Teresa Villa, Rebecca Ortiz, Hector Oswaldo Villa, Carlos Francisco Gracia, Margarita Julia Ortiz, Ruben Rodriguez, Gustavo Ruben Garcia, Enrique Hernandez, Jr., Michele Yvonne Hernandez, Michael Lazaro Caro, Luis Omar Villalobos, Christian Joy Garcia, Elizabeth Caro, Margarita Sabrina Medrano, Robert Hernandez Jr., Philip Ray Grant II, William Joseph Nolasco II, Johnny Raymo II.
