Plume, John & Kathy Amway

""We saw an excellent opportunity to unite around a single vision for the future." John and Kathy Plume were considered to be successful business entrepreneurs in their Michigan neighbourhood because they owned three firms.

In actuality, Kathy worked as a hospital administrator for ten hours a day, six days a week, and was a member of a number of different committees.

Running their carpet store, furniture store, and moving business took up 12 to 15 hours of John's time each day.

Besides that, they owned a real estate development company and a car restoration company, as well as being members of a service club and being quite active in their church.

They didn't have much time to spend together. Some people may have cited a lack of time as a reason for not beginning a new business due to the demands of their work schedule.

For the Plumes, it was the impetus for starting out. She and her husband had been married for ten years and were without children. In John's words, "here we found a way not only to earn revenue, but also to assist in the support of our other businesses."

"but rather a means of spending a great deal more time together. We saw an excellent opportunity to unite around a single vision for the future. We'd made it to the end of our time limit."

Their greatest delight in life right now is spending time with their son, Jonathan, and daughter, Kayla, who are both in college."
