A Case Study in Success
A large car manufacturer's engineering manager was on the lookout for a few smart investments to get the most of his money. Chetan Rastogi came up with a few suggestions.
He sought counsel from a coworker, who responded by asking, "Do you want to invest your money or your time?" Chetan's introduction to the Quixtar Independent Business Ownership Plan began with that statement.
Vineeta, on the other hand, had recently completed her MBA and had accepted a position as chief financial officer of a small company.
She want additional income to assist her in paying off her student loans. Vineeta explains that she sought guidance from her older sister since she has always valued her viewpoint.
“However, when she started telling me about the Plan, I realised that I wasn't interested at all.
I was only looking to get rid of some debts, not to start a company.” Vineeta sat up and paid attention out of deference.
They are grateful today that they followed that early counsel because it set them on a course that led to success – as well as to each other – in the years that followed.
They do, however, question if they would be married now if they had met before becoming IBOs and had stayed together.
We were nothing alike, admits Vineeta, who describes herself as a self-described "people person" who enjoys cooking and entertaining.
Chen was a dedicated and focused academic with three graduate degrees to his credit.
I, on the other hand, had recently completed my MBA programme — both in the classroom and in the completion of nearly every menial job known to man – and had earned a fantastic career as a CFO in the process. I was prepared to have a good time.”
However, by the time they finally met, they had both progressed through the company.
The ability to relate to others and reach out to others emerged in Chetan, according to his mother, Vineeta. “I also learnt to remain focused on my objectives – and to admire individuals who had this quality.”
Chetan concurs, saying, "We've been good to one other."
Once they began working together, the Rastogis established a shared sense of direction as well as a shared image of what it means to live the American dream.
There are no impediments.
“We both had a clear understanding of the types of leadership qualities we wanted to develop and practise,” Vineeta explains.
“And I saw in Chetan all of the attributes that were required — honesty, humility, and a willingness to serve.
Even when a challenge is hard for him – such as speaking in front of a large gathering of people, addressing new individuals, or being straightforward with someone who is struggling – Chetan persists.”
According to Chetan, Vineeta's confidence and positivity keep everyone on the go.
Her constant presence serves as a beacon of hope, urging others to persevere despite the difficulties they may be through. She simply refuses to accept that she has failed in the face of adversity.
She considers them to be nothing more than minor hiccups in the road.”
Chetan and Vineeta have been married for ten years and enjoy spending time with their six-year-old son, Aneesh, who appreciates that his parents can find time to go bicycling, rollerblading, and swimming with him.
Long-term aspirations for Chetan include learning to sail and fly, and Vineeta enjoys spending long weekends in New York, where she, in her words, "keeps my shopping skills sharp.
" Having a flourishing business powered by Quixtar allows them to go frequently to their home country of India, where they have friends and family, as well as a passion for travelling and seeing new places.
According to Chetan, "our goal isn't just to realise the American dream," he adds. In addition, we want to share it with others - whether they be in the United States, India, or wherever our adventure leads us.”
