Dane and Nancy Morton met while attending college and were married shortly after. His three older brothers had all started their own businesses when Dane was 15 years old; their father, who died when Dane was 15, had encouraged his sons to do the same, and they did, starting with paper routes, a boat cleaning service, and, by the time Dane entered college, a retail store.
They were both looking for a source of income that would allow them to establish a family, with Nancy taking on the role of a full-time mother.
Dane ran the business, and Nancy became a professional model. They started a business and saw it grow until they were able to devote all of their time to it full-time.
They were the proud parents of a lovely newborn daughter named Julie, and their dream had finally come true.
They worked full-time and were full-time parents! However, the dream was dashed only a few years later. Julie was diagnosed with cancer when she was four years old, and she passed away shortly after.
Nancy expressed concern about whether they would ever be able to dream again. "Our hopes and dreams were taken away with her.
Dane and I had cherished every moment we had spent with our daughter, and the pain of losing her was tremendous.
When we looked out the window, Nancy Dornan told us that we would see a small bird, and that we would hear its singing, and that our hearts would be lighter as a result.
God performed the healing, and we were afterwards introduced to the hymn. For the rest of our lives, we kept the following paraphrase from the Psalms in front of us: 'My responsibility is to take care of the doable and put my faith in God for the impossible.'
