When Peter and Eva Mueller-Meerkatz founded Mueller-Meerkatz in 1976, they worked with an American partner to expand their network. The company's revenue increased from nothing to 180 million Marks (more than US$100 million) during the course of eight years.
Today, its network runs across Europe, with the majority of LOS located in Germany, Poland, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Slovenia, Croatia, Switzerland, Hungary, Spain, Portugal, Italy, Greece, Ukraine, Russia, and other nations, among them the majority of LOS in Poland. The LOS had a cumulative turnover of more than US$1.5 billion in 2008, with IBOs in 40 countries, and was still operated from a small Swabian town at the time of writing.
In 1982, Mueller-Meerkatz, Peter, and Eva established an Austrian holding company and constructed a seminar centre in the Tyrolian highlands, which is still in operation today. More than 200,000 people attended such workshops between January and December 1989. After being held at Ruhpolding for several years, the seminars were relocated to Reit im Winkel in southern Bavaria towards the beginning of the 1990s.
They were instrumental in establishing the annual TOP4 spring convention in 2001. Once a year, more than 1000 Diamonds and their leaders convene in New York City. Cooperative travel is part of the culture of the WWD network, and it continues to be a significant aspect of the WWD system today.
