When the Camps were shown a marketing strategy by Babs' brother, Ron Camp had justbeen voted Coach of the Year in Georgia.
He liked what he was doing, but he knewthat as a teacher and a coach, he was fighting to support his wife and twoyoung girls
Ron wasn't too excited at first, but having grown up in government housing projectswith no father around to support the family, and no mother for supervision, hewas eager to do whatever it needed for Babs to be at home to raise their girls
Ron was fine talking to folks who were wearing football helmets, buttalking to anyone else was quite a challenge. Early on, he had to do a lot ofovercoming, but he realised if others could create this firm, then he could also!
On October 4, 1993, Ron suffered a sudden heart attack while jogging with hisdaughter, Lisa. He was in great physical shape and exercise was part of his dailyroutine. His abrupt demise at age 52 came as a shock to everybody who knew him.
Babswas obliged to rely on all the divine and inner strength she could find. God didnot let her down, nor did her friends or business "family," who camefrom all over the country to mourn Ronï¿death 's and to support and encourage Babs.
A magnificent husband and father, and an outstanding leader in their business,Ron will be dearly missed, but remembered with much love and dedication by hisfamily and a host of friends.
Years previously, while Babs was in college, she was so scared of speaking in publicthat she chose the only major and minor that did not require a public speakingclass.
While she and Ron were growing their firm, Ron did most of the speaking. Babs adds that speaking on stage alone has been a major struggle, but whenBill Britt told her that she had a fantastic storey to give with people, of howRon had provided for her, the challenge became more rewarding and less tough.
The Camp organisation has continued to develop and prosper under Babs' excellent guidance.
As Babs puts it, "Ron's dreams will live on through his family, through his grandchildren, and through the outstanding, competent leaders he has left behind him."
Babs' life took on yet another new chapter on January 17, 2004, when she tied the knot with Stan Chambers.
Stan had been introduced to her by Ray and Carroll Youngblood, who were her business acquaintances. After ten years of running her firm on her own, Babs is delighted to have found a business partner who shares her enthusiasm for the industry.
