Story
Daisy Viñas and Ulises Feliz
They set the tone - In 2011, Ulises Feliz was awarded the Amway Heroes Award for Leadership. Although he has many heroes of his own, he credits his mother, Flor Taveras, with making him the person he is today. "When people tell me that I am honest or trustworthy, it comes directly from them" - says Ulises.
Daisy says that Ulises is a “very persistent man, a fighter with incredible charisma. That he motivates people to do what they have to do to get ahead ”.
He is also very humble. “People think that a leader is someone with special characteristics: tall and dominant voice. But what I have learned is that when you draw less attention and let the community do its job, that is when leadership flourishes ”- explains Ulises.
With growing poverty in the Dominican Republic, Ulises worries about the future of his country. “The opportunities for people to earn a living are rare,” he exclaims, “and while there are many multi-million dollar companies here, none have done as much for our citizens as Amway. And now we have a second generation that is learning the business from their parents. It is wonderful".
Both Ulises and Daisy were professionals when they started their business; he was a systems engineer and she worked in the financial area. "Like most women, I wanted financial stability and have enough money to help the family - says Daisy - but I also wanted to be able to spend more time with my children, and not have to work for a boss."
Ulysses promised Daisy when they got married that she would have all those things. "But I never imagined it was through the Amway ™ business!" - He exclaims.
“There are so many more people here who could be living this lifestyle - he continues -, I feel a great responsibility to share it; not to do so would be selfish. "

And Ulysses is anything but selfish. "When I see that people achieve what they thought was impossible, I feel very satisfied - he says -, the human spirit is what drives people and seeing people achieve great things is what drives me."
