"Allow me to get to work!" In his own words, Jim Janz describes his initial reaction when he initially learned about the possibility.
Even though he has long since attained the status of Crown Ambassador, he maintains the same mindset that has propelled him to success in business.
Jim and his wife, Sharon, are the owners and operators of one of the largest and most successful independent enterprises in the world, based in Vancouver, Canada.
Their achievement of both Triple Diamond and Crown pin levels in the same month made them the first Distributors to do so.
Sharon and Jim were 29 and 30 years old, respectively, when they were appointed as Canada's first Crown Ambassadors.
Also noteworthy is the fact that they were one of the first independent enterprises to implement a computerised ordering system.

Jim and Sharon Janz have been Crown Ambassadors since 1978, and they are still actively expanding their business.
"We don't believe the business climate has ever been better, and we intend to take advantage of it to the fullest extent possible!" says Jim.
Despite his pessimism, Jim is a true optimist, full of energy and ideas.
"I don't want to fritter away my life away." My only reason for stopping work would be if I was doing something I didn't enjoy, but this business is just too much fun!" Jim exclaims.
Jim became a part of the Amway organisation when he was 22 years old, while still teaching at the junior high school level.
"The incentive was straightforward: the opportunity to attain our financial aspirations and goals."
Despite some initial setbacks, Jim remained optimistic about the business and its potential. Jim and Sharon have a special place in the history of Amway.
They were the first to obtain both the Triple Diamond and the Crown Direct awards at the same time.
They were also the first to be appointed Crown Ambassador in Canada, and the second in the world, after the United Kingdom.
They began with a very small basement apartment and a teacher's salary of $214 per month to launch their firm.
"We only had a few things, and it took many weeks for us to receive them," Jim reminisces.
The very first gathering we ever attended was one that we organised.
Until we had been in company for five months, we didn't come across a Direct Distributor.
We were essentially on our own in terms of developing the expansion of our company."
In Sharon's words, "my greatest struggle was believing that I had to be like Jim, who was inspirational, motivating, and full of energy."
But I discovered that I could be myself and make a contribution in my own manner.
In this industry, married couples are as secure as a lock and key. Each have a unique set of characteristics that contribute to their success.
As our children grew older, this business gave the scheduling control that allowed us to take time off from teaching during school vacations and for much of the summer to spend time with them.
"All of your efforts are rewarded!" The couple has re-committed themselves to their business now that their children have graduated from high school and college.
In addition, the time could not be more perfect. In the words of Jim, "building our firm has never been simpler."
Every step along the way, we can see how technology is assisting us. In addition, it is an excellent business for the 1990s and beyond.

Jim was elected Chair of the IBOAI in October 2006, and he steered the organisation through a breakthrough year in 2007.
Jim accepted a position on the IBOAI Governance and Oversight Committee in the fall of 2007, after the conclusion of his term as a member of the board.
