Dave and Jan Severn are Executive Diamonds from Idaho, and were the first to qualify as Diamonds in the state in 1981. Dave reports that he has reached a plateau at 52,000 PV. Ruby then broke five Platinum legs in order to progress from Ruby to Diamond in under 12 months' time. Prior to joining Amway, he worked as a certified public accountant.
When people claim that it is tough to go diamond while living in a rural region, Severn frequently says that he has broken more than 10 Platinums while living in tiny communities. He is quite well-liked among the WWDB and BWW communities, and he is frequently quoted by numerous IBOs. Success story
There appeared the teacher.
“When the student is ready, the teacher will appear,” says the instructor. That quote accurately illustrates how Dave and Jan Severn came to be involved with the Indpendent Business Plan (IBP).
After serving in the army, Dave went on to work for an international accounting firm as a certified public accountant. However, by the age of thirty-two, he had reached the pinnacle of his professional success and was forced to settle for annual cost-of-living wage increases while he awaited a promotion opportunity.
“I was weary of working 100+ hours per week and being paid for just forty,” Dave explains. “I was also annoyed by the fact that I was performing at a higher level while being paid at my current level, and by the fact that taxes and inflation were eating away the majority of my earnings.”
The Severns were riding in a rusted 1967 Chevrolet pickup. Jan had returned to work as a result of their inability to fulfil their living expenditures. As Dave explains, "I had followed every piece of advice I had received." “A bachelor's degree, a professional licence, and a lot of effort. We couldn't just sit around and hope that things would improve; we had to do something.” This is where you come in. As if by magic, the teacher (Ron Puryear) materialised in front of the student (Dave) who was ready.
Attempting to Break into the Big Business
“We were a very active group of people,” Dave explains. “I am actively interested in both business and community activities.” There is no additional time. However, the business appeared to be too wonderful to pass up. We didn't know much about it, but we were optimistic about its potential and confident in our ability to put out the necessary work. So, we decided to start a major business since we believed the Independent Business Pan would answer our financial difficulties!
Struggles
The Severns took the plunge into the future and landed on their collective asses. The majority of their friends and family either laughed or told them they were insane. One of Dave's professional accounting colleagues expressed concern about the fact that he was jeopardising the future of his profession by continuing with his side business. However, Dave and Jan maintained that their aspirations were greater than their difficulties, and, most crucially, they only listened to business advice from their upline and refused to listen to criticism.
The Seeds of Our Commitment Were Sewn
Although the Severns had little business volume and no profits six months after launching their company, they were still in the red. They were finally able to connect with others and attend a Family Reunion as a result. “We got a good look at what it was all about,” Dave says. “There is a lot of love, caring, and sharing among people from different backgrounds. We got a glimpse of what lay underneath the items. At that occasion, we were inspired by the lifestyle that was conceivable, as well as the calibre of individuals with whom we would be able to construct our future. Everything became a matter of when from that point onward.”
Living a Life of Your Own Design
After six more months, when her earnings had more than doubled, Jan decided to leave her work and stay at home with her children. The Severns were able to grow their business quickly by understanding how to set goals, regularly working the business with the same seriousness that they applied to their employment, and listening to and following upline advice. Dave chose to leave his profession 11 months after Jan's Independence Day, despite earning an annual income that was four times his CPA pay. He did so voluntarily.
Taking Charge of Our Decisions
Since Dave's declaration of independence, the Severns' income has increased gradually. Due to the fact that they are full-time independent business owners, Dave and Jan may pick exactly what they want to do each day, as well as with whom and where they want to do it, and how long they want to remain. The family enjoys travelling the world, taking vacations, and dressing and staying in first-class hotels. Their decisions are no longer influenced by the passage of time or the availability of funds. The Severns have a 138-acre estate with a river, ponds, and a lake on which to raise their family. In their utopia, there is an abundance of fish and fauna. Their ranch in Idaho, which they use for both commercial purposes and as a family pleasure location, is 160 acres, and they enjoy it much. Caretakers and a housekeeper split the effort in order to give the Severns more time to play with their friends.
Great Dreams are a must-have.
“The rewards of Diamond are worth many times the amount of labour it required to construct it,” Dave says of the investment. “We are able to live the number-one lifestyle in America today because we have achieved financial independence.” The only thing we did was imagine big ideas, say "yes" to those dreams, and then get to work on our business.
For many years, it has been a labour of passion that never feels like work—and it has allowed me to be financially independent. Most notable among these have been the capacity to provide our son with expensive, specialised schooling, care for our parents, real estate investments, and the opportunity to travel to far-flung locations with our entire family.”
Providing Service to Others
“We can't fathom doing anything greater to benefit people than what we're doing with this wonderful company! Our Christian principles apply to every part of our lives, and we give all of the credit for our accomplishments to our Almighty God. But the best part is that you will continue to have access to the same business and benefits,” Dave explains.
