Many uplines and IBOs will discuss their compensation plan. Various systems, such as WWDB or Network 21, will frequently advertise themselves as the best, quickest growing, proven, and profitable. That was the way it was promoted when I was an IBO, and I believe it is still the way it is promoted today. Many IBOs and recently ex IBOs have posted comments on the internet indicating that this is correct. But let's take a closer look at these assertions.
What criteria do you use to choose the best? You can't do it. Unless there are set criteria for what makes the best, the best is only an opinion. Of course, every upline believes their team is the best, but what evidence can be found to support that claim? Try asking that question if you're an Amway IBO or prospect. What basis do you use to claim to be the "best" group or system?
It is possible to establish or deny who is the fastest growing. But, for the most part, we know that Amway isn't expanding in North America at a breakneck pace. Amway sales in North America appeared to be stagnant or perhaps declining under Quixtar's tenure. Amway advocates point to an increase in worldwide Amway sales, but it's reasonable to assume that the gain is mostly in foreign countries. Amway no longer publishes North American sales and instead aggregates everything into a global sales figure for some strange reason.
To the extent that any system can claim to be demonstrated, all these systems have done is demonstrate that they are utter failures. We can extrapolate from Amway's own numbers that less than half of one percent of IBOs ever achieve platinum status. If the platinum is CORE, the platinum level is roughly where you might realise a tiny profit. Platinums might lose money at that level, according to some paperwork. While the report is out of date, the costs of being a platinum have increased dramatically since that time (Wisconsin Attorney General), thus it's plausible that platinums are still losing money. It's also clear that there are less diamonds in North America now than there were a decade ago. Diamonds have resigned, and some have been fired. The majority of new gems tend to originate from nations where Amway does not have a bad reputation.
Making claims about being the fastest growing is also something that can be verified. However, you might want to check with your sponsor or upline for proof of this assertion. Is the expansion taking place in your neighbourhood as well? Do you hail from the United States or Canada? For the great majority of IBOs, growth in Korea, for example, is unlikely to mean anything. Even if there is some expansion, how does that translate into leverage or a competitive advantage for you? Ask these questions and see what kind of response you get, if any.
The system has been thoroughly tested. However, it has proven to be a flop. Amway's data substantiate this allegation.
