Success Story
["When I was a bank vice president, I managed tons of money, but most of it belonged to other people. My time wasn’t my own, either. Today, I establish my own schedule and enjoy a lifestyle that was once only a fantasy."
While in his teens, Rocky had aspired to go into coaching. "Instead of pursuing what I wanted to do, I listened to those who told me there wasn’t any money in teaching or coaching," Rocky recounts. A basketball scholarship enabled Rocky to acquire a degree in business banking, which secured him a position with a prominent bank in North Carolina.
When he turned 30, Rocky began to look back at his years of working at the bank and partying with his buddies, and discovered he felt little satisfaction in his successes. Even though his offices got bigger with every promotion, he felt the walls were closing in on him.
Then, in 1977, Rocky was introduced to the industry by an old high school acquaintance. He gave in to his friend’s bombardment of phone calls because, "He was more persistent than I was stubborn," chuckles Rocky.
Soon, Rocky grew to regard the program as the coaching job he’d never had. "This business provided me the chance to coach, not in the principles of blocking and tackling, but in the fundamentals of life," explains Rocky.
Rocky is particularly pleased of growing his career as a single.
"Most of the people who develop this firm are couples," he explains. "But it can be made by just one person." And construct it, he has!
Rocky owes his success to a bulldog mentality. "Bulldogs don’t let go of something once they have their jaws into it," states Rocky. "The same goes for this business. Once you choose to pursue it, you have to go at it like a bulldog."
Today, Rocky makes Myrtle Beach, South Carolina home. "I always wanted a home at the ocean," says Rocky. "My dad took me here when I was a youngster, and I swore I’d live here one day." Rocky also adores the beaches in areas like Hawaii, Bermuda, Grand Cayman Islands, Virgin Islands, and the Caribbean. But, what he appreciates most is "being able to help people reach their goals and objectives in life."
Disputes & Controversies
Skaggs Lawsuit
In July, 2007, a lawsuit was filed by International Business Solutions, Inc. a corporation operated by Emeralds Henry and Sue Skaggs citing Bill and Peggy Britt, Paul and Leslie Miller, Rocky Covington, Kevin and Beth Bell, and Britt WorldWide as defendants. The action says that the Skaggs, having established a software system to enable for direct order fulfillment of BSM to their downline, gained consent from Britt to continue the development of the software program for eventual distribution to all of BWW. During this time, the Skaggs assert that they carried the weight of the development costs. According to the lawsuit, in 2005 Bill Britt cancelled the agreement. The Skaggs then say they were "de-edified" by their upline. The action accuses breach of contract, racketeering, and intentional interference with economic relations
In response, the defendents argued that no contract was entered into and oppose the action on many other legal grounds.
