Ronaldinho Amway

 Ronaldinho Amway

Ronaldo de Assis Moreira (born March 21, 1980 in Porto Alegre), known as Ronaldinho or Ronaldinho Gaúcho, is a Brazilian footballer who plays for Italian Serie A side Milan and the Brazilian national team.

In Brazil, Ronaldinho is known as "Gaúcho" in order to separate him from Ronaldo, who had previously been dubbed "Ronaldinho" in Brazil. When Ronaldo arrived in Europe, he took the first name and allowed Ronaldinho to become just Ronaldinho.

He was previously with Paris Saint-Germain, and Barcelona, for whom he won his first Champions League in 2006. He became a Spanish citizen in January of 2007. [2]

Biography, private life
Ronaldo de Oliveira was born in the city of Porto Alegre, the capital of the state of Rio Grande do Sul in Brazil. His mother, Dona Miguelina, is a former salesperson who was also a nurse.

João is a shipyard worker and a Cruzeiro soccer player (not to be confused with Cruzeiro EC). [3] Ronaldo passed away in the family swimming pool when he was eight. Ronaldinho's older brother, Roberto, relocated to a property in the more affluent Guarujá neighbourhood of Porto Alegre as a means of convincing him to stay at Grêmio. Roberto's career was cut short by injuries.

At a young age, Ronaldinho's talent in soccer began to grow, and thus he was nicknamed Ronaldinho, which means "little Ronaldo" in Portuguese.

His interests in futsal and beach football later extended to organised football. His first interaction with the media was when he scored all 23 goals in a 23-0 victory at age 13. Ronaldo was seen as an emerging talent at the 1997 U-17 World Championship in Egypt, where he scored two goals in penalty kicks. [6] [7]

On top of that, his sister, Deisi, is in charge of public relations, as well.

[9] On February 25, 2005, Brazilian dancer Janaína Mendes gave birth to a baby whom they called João after Ronaldinho's late father. [10]

clubcareer

mid-career

Grêmio signed Ronaldinho as a youth player. He made his senior debut at the 1998 Copa Libertadores.

[11] Ronaldinho did not get a work permit since he was a non-EU player who had not played enough international matches, and Arsenal pulled out of the move in 2001.

His involvement in a fraudulent passport incident in Brazil lead to him not playing for St. Mirren in Scotland. [13] Ronaldinho signed a five-year contract with Paris Saint-Germain in 2001.

Fernández, who managed Paris Saint-Germain for the 2001-02 season, said that Ronaldinho spent too much time partying in Paris and missed games for vacations in Brazil because of it.

[11] The day after the club failed to qualify for the UEFA Cup, Ronaldinho made it obvious that he intended to leave PSG.

Barcelona

Originally, Barcelona president Joan Laporta had vowed to sign David Beckham, but in the end, the team outbid Manchester United to land Ronaldinho.

It was at RFK Stadium in Washington, D.C., that he made his team's debut, scoring a goal in a 2-0 triumph. Returning from injury, he helped guide Barcelona to a second-place league finish.

Ronaldo won his first league title in 2004-05, and was voted FIFA World Player of the Year on December 20, 2004.

Ronaldinho was again named FIFA World Player of the Year in 2005, edging out Frank Lampard and Samuel Eto'o of Chelsea in the race.

In the UEFA Champions League knockout stage on March 8, 2005, FC Barcelona lost to Chelsea 4-2, with Ronaldinho scoring two goals. [14]

Ronaldinho was given a contract extension that would have net him over £85 million [pounds sterling] for nine years, but he declined.

He signed a two-year agreement with a minimum-fee release clause that allowed him to join Barcelona if they made an offer of at least £85 million. [16]

Ronaldinho finished the 2004-05 season with a number of personal accolades. He earned the inaugural FIFPro World Player of the Year in September 2005, as well as being awarded the 2005 European Footballer of the Year.

Ronaldo had another year in which he outscored Lampard and won the FIFA World Player of the Year award by an impressive 3:1 margin. Ronaldinho grabbed a brace as Barcelona outlasted Real Madrid 3-0 in the first leg of El Clásico. A standing ovation followed after he secured the contest with his second goal.

Ronaldo was voted to the 2006 UEFA Team of the Year in January and provided one goal in Barcelona's elimination of Benfica in the Champions League quarterfinals in which the score was 2-0 in their favour. After their 2-1 aggregate semifinal win over Milan, Barcelona earned a spot in the 2006 Champions League final, which they won over Arsenal with a 2-1 victory on May 17. Barcelona won their second straight La Liga title with a 1-0 win over Celta Vigo, with Ronaldinho registering his first career double.

He set career highs in goals and honours in all competitions, including the Champions League award for 2006.

Ronaldinho scored his fiftieth career league goal against Villarreal on November 25, 2006, and afterwards scored another overhead bicycle kick. He stated that the latter was a dream objective he had had since he was a child. Barcelona were beaten 1-0 in the final of the Team World Cup by Brazilian club Internacional on 14 December, when he set up two others, but he scored one goal. [18] Still, Ronaldinho did get the Bronze Ball Award for the competition.

Ronaldinho finished third for the 2006 FIFA World Player of the Year, behind World Cup-winning captain Fabio Cannavaro and Zinédine Zidane.

[19] Ronaldo was named to the UEFA Team of the Year for the third time in a row in January 2007, with over 290,000 votes. Because of an injury he had had earlier in the week, he was forced to miss a charity match on March 13th. [21] [22]

On 3 February 2008, he played his 200th league match for Barcelona when they played Osasuna.

He terminated the season early due to a muscle tear in his right leg on 3 April. [23] Ronaldinho told media on May 19th that a new challenge was needed to reignite his career.

[24] Thaksin Shinawatra, Manchester City's owner, expressed his interest in acquiring him on June 6th. [25]

Ronaldo and Barcelona colleague Lionel Messi led a team of international talents in an exhibition match on June 28th that concluded in a draw of 7-7. Ronaldo's last encounter for Barcelona resulted in two goals and two assists. [26]

Milan

Manchester City offered €25.5 million for Ronaldinho, but he decided to sign for Milan, where he was paid €21 million for his services.

[28] He decided to pick the number 80 because he was born in 1980. Ronaldo netted his debut goal and brace for Milan in a 3-0 victory over Sampdoria on October 19, 2008. On November 6, against Braga in the UEFA Cup group stage, he scored a 93rd-minute winner.

global reach

Ronaldo is the only Brazilian player to have played at every age level for his country.

Brazil won the FIFA U-17 World Championship 1997 with the first group match, a 7-0 triumph over Austria, featuring his first-ever goal.

Ronaldo scored two goals and received the Bronze Ball award as Brazil scored twenty-one goals while only allowing two.

Ronaldinho had a big year in 1999 in terms of international play.

He scored his first goal in the last group encounter at the 1999 FIFA World Youth Championship in Brazil. In the round of sixteen, he found the back of the net twice in the first half as Brazil were ousted by Uruguay in the quarterfinals.

He debuted for Brazil on June 26, 1999, just three days before the commencement of the Copa América, and he scored a goal in their winning Copa América campaign.

He was recalled for the 1999 Confederations Cup in which he netted in every match until the final, including a hat-trick in an 8-2 thumping of Saudi Arabia. Ronaldo did not score in the final, which Brazil lost 4-3 to Mexico.

Also, he earned the Golden Ball and Golden Boot awards for tournament's best player as well.

Ronaldinho competed in the Sydney 2000 Summer Olympics for the Brazil U-23 team. Ronaldinho led Brazil to victory in the Pre-Olympic Tournament, scoring nine goals in seven games.

In the Olympics, Brazil was eliminated in the quarterfinals by Cameroon, who won the gold medal. Ronaldo only scored one goal, which came in the quarterfinal loss to Cameroon.

Ronaldo, Rivaldo, and Ronaldinho made created a fearsome offensive combination that won the 2002 World Cup. He appeared in 5 games and got 2 goals.

Brazil's first goal in the group stage came in their 4-0 win over China.

The team's second goal against England on June 21 won the game for them. Ronaldinho's free-kick beat David Seaman to give Brazil a 2-1 lead in the 50th minute.

But seven minutes later, he was sent out for a foul on England defender Danny Mills.

He was suspended for the semifinal, but returned to the Brazil starting lineup for the World Cup final, which Brazil won 2-0 against Germany.

The next World Cup for Ronaldinho was the 2003 Confederations Cup. While Ronaldinho was unsuccessful in scoring any goals, Brazil was also eliminated at the group stage.

Carlos Alberto Parreira did not choose him for the Copa América in 2004, and instead only employed a mostly reserve squad. [29]

In 2005, he was named Man of the Match and captained Brazil to their second Confederations Cup championship.

Ronaldo scored three goals and equaled Cuauhtémoc Blanco as the tournament's all-time scorer with nine goals.

Ronaldo, Adriano, and Kaká were Brazil's offensive "magic quartet" in the 2006 World Cup, with Ronaldinho playing all five of their matches. But, with a score of only five goals, the game finished with only Brazil's one victory.

Ronaldo turned in his poorest collective effort for his national team, registering no goals and one assist in a 4-1 group stage victory over Japan.

As Brazil was defeated by France 1-0 in the quarterfinal, they had only one shot on goal for the entire contest.

[30] The crowds and media brutally condemned the team upon their return home. Two days after Brazil's elimination, vandals immolated and damaged a fibreglass and resin statue of Ronaldinho in Chapecó. [31] To commemorate his FIFA World Player of the Year title, the statue was constructed in 2004.

That same day, Ronaldinho, along with Adriano, returned to Barcelona, where they had a party lasting all night and into the early morning hours.

Many Brazilian fans resented that they had lost the faith of the players. [32]

On March 24, 2007, he netted twice in a 4-0 win over Chile, snapping a scoreless run that had spanned over two years.

[33] He wasn't selected for the 2007 Copa América despite seeking to be excused because of fatigue.

[34] Following the 5-0 victory against Ecuador, he was controversially benched by Barcelona on 18 October.

The whole team partied till 5 a.m. after their World Cup victory in Rio de Janeiro. Ronaldo left early the next morning in order to avoid the reporters. [35]

Ronaldinho was added to the list of Brazil's over-age Olympic participants on July 7th, 2008.

[36] Barcelona initially denied the deal due of his Champions League commitments with the club, but once Milan signed Ronaldinho, he was cleared to go to Beijing. [37] Ronaldo scored two goals in a 5-0 loss against New Zealand as Brazil was eliminated in the semifinals.

Brazil had bronze, overcoming Belgium in the bronze medal match 3-0.

Ronaldo de Assis Moreira (born 21 March 1980 in Porto Alegre), commonly known as Ronaldinho or Ronaldinho Gaúcho,[1] is a Brazilian footballer who plays for Italian Serie A side Milan and the Brazilian national team.

Ronaldinho, Portuguese for "Little Ronaldo," is known in Brazil by the nickname "Gaúcho," in order to distinguish him from Ronaldo, who was already called "Ronaldinho" in Brazil. Ronaldo simply went by his first name upon his move to Europe, thereby allowing Ronaldinho to drop the "Gaúcho" and remain simply as Ronaldinho.

Prior to his move to Milan, he played for Paris Saint-Germain, and Barcelona, with whom he won his first Champions League in 2006. He became a Spanish citizen in January 2007.[2]
