Larsen, Scott Amway

 Larsen, Scott Amway

Scott Larsen is the creator of Amquix.info, which is one of the most well-known websites critical of the Amway/Quixtar business model.

Many anti-Amway/Quixtar and anti-MLM activists cite his "analysis" of the firm as evidence of their positions.

Larsen first published his anti-Amway website in 1997/98 under the title Amway Distributor's Little White Lies at the location http://www.awod.com/gallery/rwav/slarsen/amway.html.

Larsen has since updated his website several times. When the site was relocated to

http://www.amquix.50megs.com/index.html, it was considered a success.

The site was taken down in November 2003 in response to a request from Team of Destiny, which claimed that the site "violated copyright and trademark rights, violated state law, and violated 50 Megs' Acceptable Use Policy," among other things. It was back online after a few days at its present address, http://www.amquix.info.

Despite the fact that Larsen's supporters believe that his website is an accurate representation of the business, critics of Larsen and his website contend that while many of his "analyses" appear impressive to the uninitiated, they tend to rely not only on a flawed understanding of the business (such as the 4 percent bonus, see Disputes & Controversies below), but also on numerous flawed assumptions that do not recur.

Several of these commonly held "myths" regarding Amway/Quixtar are debunked on the website The Truth About Amway and Quixtar.

Disputes & Controversies are a part of everyday life.

The Team of Destiny organisation has filed a lawsuit against Larsen, accusing him of copyright infringement and making false claims that Team of Destiny was an illegal pyramid scheme.

as well as by Diamond Joe Land for infringement of intellectual property rights and defamation[2]. In the following months, Land reportedly apologised to Larsen when Land joined a competitor MLM and Quixtar terminated his IBOship for violating company regulations. Ironically, once TEAM leadership was ejected from Quixtar, TEAM attempted to sue Amway on the grounds that it was a pyramid system, but was unsuccessful.

He has also had to publicly apologise to Crown Jody Victor for making false statements about him on Amquix.info[3], which he has done a number of times.

Aside from the fact that Larsen has been in charge of what he calls "the Web's largest public collection of Quixtar and Amway information" for nearly eight years, it has come to light that he was completely unaware of the qualifications for the 4 percent leadership bonus, which is one of the key building blocks of the Amway/Quixtar business.

According to Larsen, a distributor was required to generate side volume in all circumstances in order to qualify for this bonus, and he had relied on this faulty assumption in a lot of his analyses.

A minimum side volume requirement is only required for distributors that have only one qualifying leg, according to the Quixtar Rules of Conduct [4].

In order to qualify for the 4 percent bonus, distributors with numerous eligible legs do not need to have significant side volume.

Among other things, Larsen has been caught falsely defaming New Zealand Diamond Dave Bradley (under the guise of parody)[5], fudging articles about Founders Crown Ambassador Dexter Yager's income[6], and deliberately leaving out information in a Wall Street Journal article on Amway Japan's Double Crown Ambassador Kaoru Nakajima[7] in order to support his claims, as well as falsely defining what an illegal pyrami is.
