If you've ever been an IBO, you've probably heard from your upline that a "serious" business owner is one who has their mind focused on their business and is working on it around the clock. For your business to succeed and grow, you needed to maintain a laser-like focus on your goals. And this is true even for an IBO who does not have a downline. In the name of business, you're expected to give up things like your bowling league or softball league membership. Our sacrifices were referred to as "delayed gratification" by our upline.
However, keeping this in mind, I began to wonder where the diamond freedom had disappeared to. Isn't it true that an IBO with no downline is expected to take the business so seriously that it consumes the majority of his or her time, that the diamond has no time to go on never-ending fabulous vacations or to do what they want, when they want it?
The more likely scenario is that a diamond is so preoccupied with trying to keep their business afloat that they are likely to be exceptionally busy. As previously stated, a diamond has at least six platinum down line legs that require assistance in order to maintain the diamond qualification. In addition, the diamond has their own personally sponsored down line that they are also attempting to grow into platinums as previously stated.
However, while the diamonds would like you to believe that they live a life of leisure and enjoyment, the truth is that they are probably busier than if they just worked nine-to-five. If you've ever been an independent business owner, you know how hectic it can be just to keep your small Amway business running. What do you think it takes to be a diamond with a potential down line of more than a thousand people? In addition to their hectic schedule, they are also invited to speak at meetings and other functions.
As a diamond, I seriously doubt that there is much leisure and free time available. While it is true that the diamond does not have to report to a boss, imagine being a manager whose employees do little or nothing, and you have no power to fire, discipline, or otherwise require them to do anything.
The illusion of diamond freedom is only a deluding illusion. There is no such thing as walking away and collecting residual income for the rest of one's life. If you stop, your income will begin to shrivel and eventually cease to exist. You're constantly putting in effort to earn what you have. Is that what you really want to get out of your Amway venture?
