I have a great comment written by David Brear on the topic Amway is Killing Me that I would like to share with you.
While I hate to say it, I am one of those who is unfamiliar with David Brear, I have read his contributions to Shyam's blog CorporateFrauds Watch over the years and think he is a fantastic writer. And, after this essay was originally published, he has launched a site called MLM TheAmerican Dream Made Nightmare, which is dedicated to his experiences in the MLM industry.
David makes an excellent point in his final phrase about why some IBOs threaten bodily violence to some bloggers - Joecool's Canadian troll comes to mind - and why this is a bad thing for some bloggers.
Thank you for taking the time to visit the blog, David!
David Brear had this to say...
It has become necessary to destroy the Earth in order to rescue it, according to the 'Ambots'.
Numerous male core-Amway believers have, in fact, ended up on death row, far from fulfilling their goal of achieving "Total Financial Independence." At the wheel of their rusted-out automobiles, they fell asleep. Their vulnerability was exploited by indoctrination into the belief that they were heroic “Road Warriors,” members of the “Amway” elite, who (in the same way that their heroic “Diamond” leaders did) would selflessly drive anywhere (at any time) in order to build the “Business” and achieve their “Dreams and Goals.”
Unfortunately, anyone who reads these terrifying facts without having had a direct personal contact with a deluded "Ambot" will be unable to comprehend the entire evil that organisations like "Amway" represents. People that believe in Amway without question, on the other hand, are no longer the people they used to be. While they are still under the malign influence of their group, they are effectively dead; for they have been gradually dissociated from external reality and reformed into de facto slaves, furthering the hidden criminal objectives of their leaders, and completely reliant on a collective paranoid delusion of absolute moral and intellectual supremacy, which is essential to the maintenance of their individual selves and identities. Because of their delusion, it becomes impossible for such misguided "Ambots" to find humour in their predicament, or to feel sympathy for, let alone empathy for, those who do not subscribe to their beliefs. Those who are inferior outsiders (particularly those who contradict their group's dominant scenario) have been indoctrinated to view manipulation, cheating, dispossession, and/or destruction of inferior outsiders as entirely justified.
This is something I've personally observed firsthand with vulnerable members of my own family.
In the same way that Adolf Hitler amassed enormous wealth by peddling a narcissistic lie to vulnerable individuals, the otherwise-mediocre little charlatan-bosses of pernicious totalitarian/cultic mobs such as ‘Amway' and ‘Scientology' have amassed enormous wealth by peddling a similar narcissistic lie to vulnerable individuals such as ‘Amway' and ‘Scientology'.
While running and occulting, essentially the same advance fee fraud, the ludicrous leadership of the twin movements known as "Amway" and "Scientology" has consistently pretended full moral and intellectual authority while running and occulting for decades. To be sure, the ‘Amway' and ‘Scientology' utopias, (as well as the sacred scientific procedures of accomplishing these comic-book guided fantasies) have been shown with almost identical ceremonial language and imagery.
Core devotees of both Amway and Scientology have been brainwashed into believing that everything of their previous thinking was wrong and dangerous, and that they should kill off their former "negative" selves and jump over a bridge into a "completely positive" brave new world. A major component of this dramatic transformation process has been the exclusion of all "bad" influences from the believers' lives, particularly free-thinking persons who have attempted to reason with them.
The most misguided "Ambots" truly believe that in order to save themselves, their friends, and their families, they must first eliminate all of the "negative and harmful" people in order to save the world. This, despite the fact that it may appear unachievable to casual onlookers.

Amway Ambots use the concept that they are contributing to the cause of saving the world through the sale of Amway products and the recruitment of others to do the same as one of the marketing strategies that they employ. They frequently point to the organization's dedication to environmental preservation and charitable giving as evidence that they are fighting for a just cause.
Nevertheless, while it is true that Amway has made steps to enhance its sustainability policies and promote humanitarian organizations, it is vital to evaluate the degree to which selling Amway products can legitimately be regarded "saving the world."
To begin, it should be noted that not all Amway goods are necessarily sustainable or kind to the environment. Even while the corporation may have achieved some headway in lowering the environmental effect of their operations, the items themselves are frequently manufactured using non-renewable resources and may not be capable of biodegradation. In addition, the consumption of goods, even of those that are seen as sustainable, contributes to the overall waste produced by our society as well as the influence that it has on the environment.
In addition, the fundamental objective of Amway is not to save the world but rather to generate money for its independent distributors. The company's major purpose is to sell as many things as possible and recruit new members so that they can build their downline, and while they may give part of their revenues to charity causes, this is not their primary focus. The quest of profits frequently puts sustainability and social responsibility, which are also worthy goals, in direct opposition to one another.
In addition, the manner that Amway conducts its business has the potential to really contribute to a culture of greed and excessive consumerism, which is not a way of life that is sustainable. Members may be more likely to encourage excessive consumption and materialism when they are under the pressure to make sales and achieve quotas as opposed to urging others to limit their consumption and live in a more sustainable manner.
Although it is commendable for people to desire to make the world a better place, it is essential for them to maintain a healthy skepticism toward marketing strategies that imply that buying and selling items is the answer to all of the world's ills. Alterations to existing systems are necessary for true sustainability and social responsibility; individual acts alone are insufficient.
In conclusion, Amway Ambots may have the erroneous belief that they are helping to save the world by selling Amway products and recruiting others to do the same; nevertheless, this belief is not supported by the facts. Selling items is ultimately about making profits, not saving the planet; although the corporation may make some steps to enhance their sustainability policies and promote philanthropic organizations, the primary goal of the company is to sell products. It is essential to conduct an in-depth analysis of marketing strategies that give the impression of something different and to place primary emphasis on finding holistic answers to environmental and social problems.
