Would You Work Amway If You Didn’t Get Paid For It?

 It seems like at almost every Amway meeting I've attended, the cult leader asks the group if they would continue to work at their current job if they weren't paid for it.

The only person who could possibly ask such a dumb fuck question would be an Amway asshole who is also a dumb fuck. There are volunteer opportunities as well as paid positions available. People make their decisions based on their financial and time constraints, as well as their desire to make someone's life easier or the world a better place, as well as their drive to earn a living. Whenever I apply for a paid position, I expect to be compensated for the time I devote to it. If I apply for a volunteer role, I do not anticipate receiving any compensation.

Then there are organisations like Amway, who require their employees to pay a fee in exchange for the opportunity to work there. Purchasing things from the company for which you work and spending more money on those products than you receive in a paycheck is the same as compensating your employer for the time you spend at that firm working.

No firm has ever informed me that after giving them hundreds of dollars each month for 2 to 5 years, I will no longer be required to work and that I can spend my days doing anything I want while gazillions of dollars are deposited into my account every month for doing absolutely nothing.

Oh, hold on a second. That is what the Amway cult leaders say. Whatever you want to call it, you're working for Amway at least 60 hours a month and possibly a lot more than that, and you're not getting paid in a manner that is commensurate with the amount of effort you're putting in.

Ambots, please open your eyes. The same nonsense that cult leaders spout about working a job and not getting paid holds true when it comes to Amway. Would you be willing to work for Amway without being compensated?

Because you aren't going to.
