A Diamond comes to Town

Once or twice a month, a Diamond would visit to town to demonstrate the strategy. Normally, an auditorium at a school would have been reserved for this event, which was set to begin at 8 p.m. on a Friday night. IBOs were duped out of $10 each for the privilege of listening to these cult leaders.

Good IBOs who are "serious business builders" must arrive at least an hour before their scheduled start time, so my husband was always in a rush to get there by 7 p.m.

Ambot had a good time chatting with the other cult members before the event. Instead, I brought a book (fiction, not on the required reading list), chose a seat, and sat down and read while the room filled with IBO's eager to hear the Diamond speak the same old same old again and again.

It irritated the Platinum pile of shit that I had not interacted with him prior. In order to be like his wife, he'd go after Ambot and criticise him since I wasn't hanging out with her and doing what she was doing, which meant that I needed to be close to her if I wanted to be like her.

No, I never stated that I wished to be like her or that I wished to hang out with her. She was a pleasant individual, and I would generally say hello to her at some point during the evening, such as as we were leaving.

It was necessary to mix and mingle until around 8:30 because the Diamond was usually running late somewhere, and the Amway meeting never started on time at 8. When the Diamond finally appeared, the cult members leapt to their feet, cheering and clapping in appreciation. I was one of the few people who remained sitting and silent throughout the meeting.

Normally, these meetings would last for more than two hours. Despite the fact that each Diamond's speech was unique, the most of them spent the first half-hour to an hour talking about themselves, pretending to be a comedian, or discussing current issues. A Powerpoint presentation on a white screen would be used to deliver the business plan presentation, which would take between one and two hours to complete.

One or more of these Diamonds made no mention of Amway. Another instance was when the A word was brought up at the end of their presentation. They'd all discuss about the training system and how the materials needed to be purchased, as well as how to get people to the activities they were attending. When it came to the remuneration, they'd all say a bunch of rambling things in a hurry.

I recall one Diamond saying that if the IBO finds 6 individuals, and they find 6 people, and so on and so forth, that you might earn $78,000 a year in 6 to 9 months working only 10 hours a week in 6 to 9 months. He increased his offer to $250,000 per year in less than two minutes. He's driven the cult followers into a frenzy at this point, so he goes in for the kill a couple of minutes later. Working 10 hours a week for 2 to 5 years, you may earn $750,000 every year! The cult members are ecstatic at the excellent news, and they are soaking it up completely.

The IBOs would rush to the stage as the Diamond ended, and he would have an entourage of admirers waiting for him for 20 or 30 minutes after he finished.

A few times a year, the Diamond would return for some pointless "instruction." Those that involve telling all of the IBOs in attendance to sign up for Communikate, purchase a premier monthly membership to World Wide Destructive Bastards, purchase CDs, purchase books from the reading list, and attend major functions. Purchase tools, then after you're finished, purchase even more tools so that you may give them away to prospective customers. The only way to be successful in an Amway business is to invest in the tools that will help you be successful in your business.

Oh, wait, they were mistaken about that. The only way to be successful in becoming a Diamond millionaire under your upline's leadership is to invest in tools.

We might be able to get out of there by 11 p.m. if we were lucky. If you're not that lucky, you'll have to wait till midnight. Normally, the Diamond couldn't keep the party going till the wee hours of the morning because the school was only booked for a specific amount of time. It's likely that the janitor finished his or her duty around midnight and had to lock the building.
