Vicinanza, Edward & Elise Amway

It was a matter of fate. Five times, Ed had been approached about this business before he made the decision to become involved.

Every time he looked at the business plan, he was giddy with excitement about the prospect, but his friends and family discouraged him from going ahead with it "Please don't do it. It's not going to work."

While Ed's ambition was to be out of a job by the age of 30, he found himself stuck in the wrong system despite his efforts. He realised there had to be a better way after having "one of those days" on the job and realised there was.

Then a buddy of his inquired as to whether he intended to continue doing what he was doing for the rest of his life. "There's no way," Ed said.

His ambition was to be able to retire by the age of thirty. Ed's friend informed him that he knew of a means for Ed to achieve his aim. And the rest, as they say, is history.

The year was 1983, and Ed had already established his marketing business while also operating a newspaper business and two delis.

He was putting about 100 hours per week at the time. Ed built the business from scratch to Platinum status in 24 months as a single person and had already broken one Platinum.

Ed and Elise met while they were youngsters in Yonkers, New York, and remained excellent friends for many years after that. Then, in 1989, they tied the knot and began working together to grow the company. Elise claims that Ed's belief, faith, and conviction in this business were so great that she wanted to assist him in realising his dream of financial independence. Her first large business conference completely transformed her perspective on this industry. She seen many people achieving financial independence through their business and believed that if they could do it, so could she and Ed if they worked hard enough.

Elise had been working in retail management for 13 years when she met her husband. She quit her work and became financially independent two years after she and Ed got married. Ed lost his traditional business a year and a half later, but because they had created their marketing firm, he didn't have to look for another employment for the rest of his working life. Elise considers it a dream come true to be a business owner while also being able to stay at home with their three children and raise them. Ed and Elise are relishing their newfound freedom as full-time parents, thanks to the help of a housekeeper, a secretary, and a financial accountant.

They recently moved into a 15-room mansion in Wesley Hills, which was another dream come true for them. The Vicinanzas are excited about the prospect of sharing their dream of financial independence with others through their various businesses around the world. They both believe that their involvement with the winners in this sector has strengthened their marriage and has assisted them in instilling a more optimistic attitude on life in the lives of their children.

"We express our gratitude to God for our entire upline, for assisting us and sharing the desire of freedom with us. Even in the midst of our difficulties, this company offered us reason to be optimistic."
