Ambot Not Drinking Kool Aid Anymore?

An anonymous statement from a former Amway Ambot who claims to no longer be drinking the Kool Aid can be seen below. But I have a sneaking suspicion that she is still believing in the Amway fairy tale of a lifetime of residual income. This is a really rare Amway success storey because there aren't many Ambots who make this much money in a month as in this case.

After five years with Amway/WWG, I decided to leave. I recall reading your blog when I was new to "the business" and thinking you were simply being nasty and stealing your husband's dream. I was wrong. I recall being concerned about you. Looking back, I can see that I was just drinking the Kool Aid!

It has been a very illuminating process to step away from the company. The true colours of our upline as well as parts of our downline have been revealed. As was to be expected, some of our business associates have entirely abandoned us and their businesses. Several others have been nice and encouraging. Our business makes approximately $1000 per month, and when we declared our intention to leave, our upline advised us that the "honourable" thing to do would be to file our resignation to Amway, so passing all of our legs directly to our upline, which we did. There's just no likelihood of that happening. Despite the unrelenting push to sell the firm, we have decided to maintain it and let it to be residual, despite the fact that we have been working hard for 5 years.

We are quite grateful to have awoken from our Amway slumber at the time that we did, rather than waste any more time and money on it. In our profession, there is no such thing as time or financial freedom. It is not even necessary to think about growing your business to a successful level if you desire time independence. You will be responsible for 5-7 presentations per week in addition to all of the other BS during the day. It is best not to plan anything in your life since you may get called in to a meeting for yourself or your downline. We were having a terrible time starting the company. Our marriage, as well as our ties with family and friends, have significantly improved since we departed. I'm actually pleased with myself again.

Anna Banana reacts as follows:

Hello there, Anonymous. Thank you for taking the time to share your storey. It happens every now and again that a reader turns up who previously visited this blog when they were a smug, arrogant Ambot, and who then posts a remark stating, "You should have listened to me!"

When you're sipping the Kool-Aid, you're not willing to listen to anyone who has a different point of view from the Amway cult leader's point of view.

But, once you've gotten out and are able to look at Amway with a clear mind, you'll realise how terrible the Amway upline is and how much hell you've been through emotionally and financially.

I'm glad to hear you've been released and are working on getting your life back on track. And, more importantly, how long do you think it will be before your residual revenue ceases to exist when you aren't there to push and coerce your downline into purchasing more Amway crap? And congratulations for earning so much money in commissions every month. That is a fantasy that will never come true for the majority of people.
