All Is All?

 One of the arguments used by Amway defenders is that instruments are not required in the Amway operation. Despite the fact that Amway states this, many Amway AMO leaders do not agree. A common theme I recall hearing was that an IBO "needed" to be present at "all" of the company's events. The upline received numerous queries from IBOs, including: What if one of my brothers is getting married on the same day as a function? What should I do in this situation? In the alternative, what if my child has a soccer match or other event that is scheduled on the same day as a function? The response from upline was straightforward. "Everything" refers to everything.

As a result, your upline may educate you that God is number one, your spouse is number two, your children are number three, your job is number four, and Amway is a distant fifth. However, it is not what they meant when they said it. I heard the same phrase over and over again whenever there was a dispute with something: "all means all." This implied that one was required to attend all events. When this is brought up, Amway defenders are quick to jump in and claim it doesn't happen or that they have never heard of it. However, I continue to read stories and testimony indicating that this is still happening in the majority, if not all, AMO groups. Certain uplines may be more accommodating than others, but it appears that the majority of uplines want their downlines to attend all gatherings, regardless of whether an IBO is financially successful or not.

Even an IBO who had put in a lot of effort but was not profitable comes to mind. He received the same response regarding the phrase "all means all." Some of your upline would like you to believe that hard work equals success, but in Amway, hard work is not a guarantee of achievement. And I believe this is due to the fact that an Amway Independent Business Owner (IBO) is essentially a commissioned salesperson, and in this type of business, hard labour might go unrewarded. Hard work alone will not provide results, and even working hard and intelligently may not always bring results. Due to the difficulty in selling Amway's products and the historically unethical actions of Amway Independent Business Owners (IBOs), locating people who are interested in Amway has proven tough. Because of this, finding someone who is willing to look at the Amway sales strategy is a major difficulty.

What does your immediate supervisor think about you attending meetings and functions? They instruct you to pick and choose which events you want to attend based on your financial situation, or they tell you to attend "all." Do they take into consideration the profitability of your company before recommending you? Do they ask you to put your faith in their advice and leadership? What if they also recommend that you purchase other tools in the same manner? So, without knowing your business parameters, someone is telling you to be on voicemail or to place an order on a regular basis? They seem to be more interested in your success than in their own? Keep in mind that some upline members make significantly more money from tools than they do from Amway products. What are your thoughts at this point?
