Almost everyone has heard at least one or two Amway horror stories. Narratives of being duped into attending a meeting or being fooled When offered with the possibility, the Amway name was left out of the equation. At times, outright lies are told. Usually, while IBOs are on the rerruiting track, these kind of incidents occur. They are so desperate to build their downline that they will go to any length to obtain a prospect, completely oblivious to the fact that dishonesty nearly guarantees that no one will want to do business with them. Even the diamonds who parade around the stage flaunting their money and lifestyle may find it difficult to demonstrate that they actually live that lifestyle and own the items that they flaunt in their performances.
But what motivates them to do so? I believe this is due to the fact that uplines continue to teach it. They teach "fake it until you make it." Claims of untold wealth, residual income, and a carefree existence are made. Consider the following: Is there a single diamond that has ever given their true income so that others can check if the lives they portray are supported by their claims? In the past, certain gems were required to divulge their revenues as a result of legal procedures. However, although having good earnings, they were nowhere near able to maintain the "cash" diamond lifestyle that the large pins were displaying. Even someone with a salary of $500K per year will not have enough money to buy houses in cash and travel the world on a regular basis if they want to do so.
Many people consider earning $100 or $200K to be the pinnacle of success, but they fail to recognise that after taxes and costs, that amount does not leave enough money to live much more than a middle-class existence. I feel that many diamonds are in debt because they are trying to portray a luxurious lifestyle in order to attract prospective downlines. I do not believe that diamonds pay cash for everything, as many of them claim. And this has already been disproved by the fact that numerous diamonds have had their homes foreclosed on (Shores/Duncan, for example).
So, why do Amway Independent Business Owners (IBOs) lie? I believe they are doing it because they have no choice. The truth alone would not be sufficient to draw new recruits to Amway. The ordinary IBO makes pennies, while those that rely on the tool system lose their investments. The products are not competitively priced, and as a result, even the products must be pushed up with exaggerated claims from time to time (i.e. perfect water). I believe Independent Business Owners (IBOs) lie about Amway because they have no choice. Quite simply, the Amway company is unable to stand on its own two feet. It is supported by the data.
It is not fair to accuse all Amway Independent Business Owners (IBOs) of engaging in dishonest behavior in a broad statement like that. It is not accurate to generalize this behavior to all Amway Independent Business Owners since, like with any group of people, there may be certain individuals who participate in dishonest or unethical behavior. However, it is not fair to generalize this behavior to all Amway IBOs.
In spite of this, there have been occurrences in which certain Amway Independent Business Owners (IBOs) have been accused of making comments that are either untrue or deceptive in order to promote their businesses or products. Here are several examples:
Making incorrect Health Claims: In the past, certain Amway Independent Business Owners (IBOs) have been accused of making health claims regarding the company's goods that are either incorrect or overstated.
