Is Amway Like Gambling?

Allow me to preface this post with a disclaimer so that Amway defenders do not attempt to discredit the post before they have had a chance to read it. It is not a game of chance that you can win money with Amway. In the following paragraphs, I will explain how and why the opportunity can be compared to gambling, and why the diamonds can be compared to a casino or the "house." It's also a shame if Amway is not a game of chance, but instead produces results that are similar to those of a gambling game.

When it comes to the Amway opportunity, the odds of someone becoming a diamond are virtually insurmountable. Over the years, literally millions of people have attempted to build an Amway business in North America, and the diamond club for North American diamonds once boasted a membership of 160 diamond-ships. In order to obtain this information, I spoke with an Amway representative. Certainly, some diamonds from North America may have declined a free trip to Hawaii, but I don't expect a large number of them to do so.

In addition, the odds are stacked in favour of the diamonds. Casinos are not built by winners, but rather by hordes of losers who come together to play. In the same way that a diamond business is not built on a foundation of winners, but rather on layers and layers of IBOs who are losing, so is a diamond business. The Amway opportunity has been set up in this manner by design. Take a look at your group's 6-4-2 plan, or whatever version of it they employ. Even when you take into account expenses such as functions and standing orders, IBOs who are new or large in size can make very little money, and the losses can be staggering.

A diamond, similar to a casino, will attract a large number of young dreamers who believe they can conquer the world and become wealthy. They entice recruits with flashing lights and profiles of previous winners, much like Diamonds do with flashing lights and testimonials to entice recruits. The novelty of the opportunity excites you, just as a person walking into a casino might feel the thrill of the casino's sounds excite them as they enter the casino. Isn't it true that all you need is a little effort and a little luck? Unfortunately, that excitement is all too often replaced with the harsh reality that the vast majority of people must lose in order for a few people to win, whether in casinos or in the Amway business.

There is a great deal of concern for active IBOs and for players who spend their money in casinos, just as there is for casinos and diamond uplines. However, once you leave the casino, you will not receive any special treatment, just as an IBO who stops building a business or who stops being core will quickly become forgotten and shunned by the community. People who claimed to be lifelong friends in Amway were never heard from again after an IBO missed a few meetings, according to the company. As soon as you re-emerge, you will find love again, just as you will receive free drinks when you return to the game of gambling.

While it is true that there are some exceptional people who can scratch out a nice living through gambling, these individuals are few and far between, just as it is true that there are diamonds, yet there are also thousands of people who desired diamonds but were unable to obtain them. Those who are successful in the end usually have a unique combination of talent and a little bit of luck on their side. Some people will even cheat or lie in order to gain a competitive advantage, whether in gambling or in Amway.

The Amway opportunity has "systems" in the same way that a gambling "system" does. In either case, the system does not function properly for the majority of people. There are only a select few who are capable of making it work. Except in the case of gambling, the majority of people are aware that the odds are stacked against them. Many new Amway Independent Business Owners (IBOs) are told that anyone and anyone can succeed, which is simply not true.

Is it possible to achieve your goals through gambling or through the Amway opportunity? The answer is yes, but the reality is that only a small number of people will ever do so. Casinos and Amway diamond-ships, for example, are both built on the backs of those who lose rather than on the backs of those who win.
