In my previous role as an IBO, I recall sitting in emotional functions with poor saps who were so desperate to become diamonds that tears were streaming from their eyes. They appeared to be hardworking, decent individuals who did everything in their power to follow their upline's advice to the letter so that they, too, could experience the good life.
As a former IBO, I've noticed that the majority of IBOs who put forth a genuine effort were generally young, hardworking, and motivated individuals. They were generally drawn in by their upline because they sincerely desired to believe that there was a shortcut to retirement and that they would be retired at the age of 28 with more money than they could have imagined possible. The upline does a good job of showing you toys, dream homes, and vacations so that you can get a glimpse of what you will receive.
That marks the beginning of the process. Then they tell you that you can have it all, but that you must first become a student who is dedicated to learning the system's tools and functions. If you follow the instructions, you will achieve the same results as the diamonds! And it's easy to do! Anyone who has the ability to copy someone else can complete the task! There's no doubt about it! I'm going diamond in a 1-2-3-4-5-6 countdown, and that's it!
Then, when IBOs fail, as they inevitably will, the upline narrative shifts from simply copying the upline to one of a number of different outcomes. Usually, your upline will tell you that you never tried hard enough. That appears to be a very common occurrence. Other upline excuses include the fact that you didn't operate the system exactly as instructed or that you didn't construct it correctly. When did you last hear a higher-up admit their advice didn't work or that they were completely wrong?
Because their advice is ineffective as a whole, upline will never hold themselves accountable. As a result, the number of actual successes appears to be similar to the outcome of a lottery. Sure, every once in a while an IBO will defy all odds and become a diamond, but these instances are few and far between. In my opinion, very few IBOs who put forth an effort will ever fail as a result of their inability to put forth sufficient effort. What you've received is simply a convenient upline explanation for their ineffective advice, which you paid for.
