Amway Independent Business Owners (IBOS) refer to themselves as business owners, although they appear to know very little about running a business. Their understanding is frequently muddled by the nonsense that they are fed by their all-knowing upline. Ironically, many IBOS refer to their upline as mentors or coaches, despite the fact that they are not. Despite the fact that many IBOS blame themselves for the large failures that upline produces, they see nothing wrong with the massive failures that upline produces. In fact, they don't appear to think it's an issue that many IBOS blame themselves for.
For example, the upline may convince them to start an Amway firm by emphasising the low cost and low overhead, only to have the upline subsequently inform them that they must invest in Amway in the same manner they would in any other company. Their expectations are high, and when the earnings do not materialise, they are informed that business owners frequently go for five years without making any net gains from their Amway investments.
The reason why IBOS fall for the upline's BS is because they have very little to no knowledge of what it takes to truly own and run a business in the first place. Although many people put forth an honest effort to build their businesses, Amway is flawed, as is the advice given by uplines. As a result, the expenses of running an Amway business and the cost of the system can quickly turn into losses in the thousands, tens of thousands, or even more, depending on the level of dedication put forth by the business owner or their upline.
The only way around this is for IBOS to keep meticulous records of their income and expenses, as well as to do a profit and loss analysis on a weekly or at the very least monthly basis. There is no use in continuing to operate an Amway business if there are no realistic prospects for increasing income or decreasing expenses in the near future. Is there a direct correlation between attending functions and generating business income if you are a company representative? If not, what is the point of attending? Similarly, other techniques such as standing orders are applicable.
Quitting Amway is a wise business decision if there are no earnings and no solid, quantifiable plans to turn a profit in the near future. Isn't it true that you established an Amway business with the purpose of making money in the first place?
