Can I count the number of occasions that I have witnessed or heard of IBOS deceiving or trying to deceive someone into seeing a plan or becoming interested in Amway? When you witness worn, old lines being re-used, it almost becomes amusing to watch. When I first started calling this tapespeak, I meant that the IBO had heard it at a meeting or function or on some form of tape or audio recording.
What is surprising is how some IBOS and its leaders can believe that fooling a prospect is a good idea. They are truly remarkable. Ultimately, it is detrimental to the company's long-term success and negatively impacts the company's reputation greatly. After all, who wants to do business with people who have lied to them in the past? As a matter of fact, the same may be said of Amway defenders who also lie or tell half-truths in order to protect Amway.
However, the rationale for the employment of lies, half-truths, deception, and other methods is because the truth about Amway isn't particularly attractive. You can paint a pig with lipstick, but at the end of the day, it's still a pig. While it is possible to make Amway and the opportunity appear more appealing, in the end, around half of all IBOS do nothing and 99 percent of IBOs or more either make nothing or lose money. When you factor in the costs of tools and functions, as well as the time spent, Amway becomes a financial nightmare for many people.
If you're an independent business owner, be brutally honest with yourself. Do you take a curiosity-based approach, or do you withhold some information in the aim of enticing individuals to the plan in question? Do you pretend to be successful, as suggested by your upline? Do you keep the name Amway hidden unless specifically requested to do so? If this is the case, you are a contributor to the problem rather than a solution. Can I count the number of occasions that I have witnessed or heard of IBOS deceiving or trying to deceive someone into seeing a plan or becoming interested in Amway?
