When the Platinum cult leader appeared at every Amway meeting, he would slap all of the IBOs in the face and tell them that they were failures because we didn't bring in new prospects. Please accept our apologies for not being able to locate people who are willing to be taken advantage of!
Ambot spent many hours each week attempting to persuade friends, family, and people he had never met before to attend a meeting. Every now and again, after a few hours of being harassed, someone would finally give in and agree to view the plan. However, they would never show up and would spend weeks or months avoiding phone calls from Ambot.
I hadn't been to an Amway meeting in months when an acquaintance of Ambot's failed to show up at our house and accompany him to a meeting, and then refused to answer his phone when Ambot called, I decided it was time to go. Ambot requested me to accompany him to the cult meeting, so I agreed and went to the meeting for the first time in around 5 or 6 months.
I should point out that this was one of the last meetings that Ambot was a part of. Yay!!!!
Fortunately, the infamous prayerfest for me to meet another man had not yet taken place.
In any case, a meeting room had been reserved at a nearby hotel, and the speaker would be Emerald, the upline. We walked in and immediately found chairs. We stood there and watched as the Platinum bucket of shit went around the room greeting people. He didn't say hello to us despite the fact that he went straight past us a number of times due to the fact that we had chosen aisle seats. You're ignoring us! As if it matters a shit that someone I don't care for won't speak to us. Ambot, for some reason, began to chuckle, and I inquired as to what he found so amusing.
“He won't talk to us because I didn't bring anyone with me to the meeting,” says the author.
That was the cult leader's method of retaliating against his followers. Refusal to recognise their existence. Ostracization.
I didn't have a problem with it. It is not often that we are so fortunate as to have the pretentious pile of shit refuse to speak with us.
