One Shortlived Downline

Yes, you did read that correctly in the title. A downline, let's call him Trevor, that my Ambot sponsored was an old buddy who is willing to stand behind my husband no matter what happens in his business venture. Trevor was satisfied with the situation if he was included.

So Ambot got the one downline immediately after joining Amway, and all of a sudden he's like the golden boy with all of the upline, who are all congratulating him and saying things like "Wow, look how quickly you sponsored a new IBO!".

This occurred immediately prior to the annual Family Reunion. The onus was on Ambot and his new downline to make it to the function on time and without incident. Trevor made last-minute arrangements to drive down with our sponsor, a.k.a. Captain Fuck Up, to the event. If you were unaware of the saga, you may read about it here. This explains why Trevor was unable to make it to the location.

In the spirit of being a good little IBO, Ambot's new upline asked him to pay the $150 Amway join up fee and purchase a few goods, including Perfect Water, which is Amway's cure-all for all of life's illnesses.

Trevor was meant to attend an Amway meeting a week or two after signing up, and he was also expected to meet up with our pretentious sack of shit Platinum before the meeting. He was unable to make it for whatever reason. The conceited pile of dung erupted in hysterics! How can one of the IBOs in his downline treat him in such a disrespectful manner. Trevor receives a phone call from one of the pompous piece of shit's underlings, who chastises him for not showing up.

Yes, folks in their 50s take great pleasure in being ripped to shreds by a cult follower in their 20s. Yes, that's correct!

As a result, Trevor was able to get retribution by quitting on the spot.

I suggested to the Ambot that we should do the same. Ambot, on the other hand, was determined to continue.

Ambot never sponsored a second downline after that.

A common occurrence is Ambot's situation. The majority of independent business owners never sponsor a downline. Those that do succeed, however, have difficulty retaining their downline.
